  1. He also has one offered for bidding (rather than BIN), and is using the exact same photos. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1841-Young-Victoria-Half-Penny-very-lustrous-/142372128420?hash=item21260a46a4:g:Hp0AAOSwX61ZCxYI
  2. Like you, I think they look ok but why would someone who doesn't sell coins have ten (still ten after you've bought one?) all brilliant uncirculated, and all so brilliant uncirculated that you're not even required to select the specimen you want?
  3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1841-Young-Victoria-Half-Penny-very-lustrous-/142373040954?hash=item212618333a:g:Hp0AAOSwX61ZCxYI 'Ten available'……..
  4. A GIN AND ORANGE, ...A LEMON SQUASH, ...AND A SCOTCH AND WATER…..PLEASE!!!!! A Fawlty Towers quote. I think its from the episode in which Basil is sucking up to the con man who's passing himself off as a lord. One of my favourites, well, that and the one about the inept builder, or the gourmet evening, or the hotel inspector, or…. actually, they're all excellent.
  5. A GIN AND ORANGE, ...A LEMON SQUASH, ...AND A SCOTCH AND WATER…..PLEASE!!!!!
  6. It all started with this post from Peter which is also offensive. I think this should be deleted from the thread too.
  7. Non-regal contemporary counterfeits are known with the date 1776, which is why Coppers asked. Your 1773 looks like 3 over 7. There's a 1773 3 over 7 in the Nicholson collection of halfpennies although yours doesn't die match that one. Thanks for scanning the William III. Standard issue I'm afraid, but nice to have all the same.
  8. I've just noticed this one too. What do you think he means by 'BRITANNIA/'? It's a normal 1694 as far as I can see. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/William-Mary-1-2-Penny-BRITANNIA-1694-GVF/232324269125?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D43782%26meid%3Dbbf8c115c8494701b34660c5cc3c6a1e%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D232326219337
  9. Could you scan the reverse of the William III 1/2d please Prep? It's always worth checking them for minor varieties. Ta.
  10. Is he hoping the stops will go unnoticed???? Over graded too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gb-Farthing-1673-No-Stop-On-Obverse-Grade-VF/232325571351?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D43782%26meid%3D13dc53adce2c4627864bd2850ef36d01%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D262970297169
  11. Hello Q. Let's have a look at the type of thing you collect or which interests you. Lots of free and friendly advice available to you here.
  12. We've had the image of Jesus in a slice of toast so why not Satan on a penny…..
  13. Thanks very much. Is that Spink 1574?
  14. I was given this a little while ago by a neighbour who knows I'm interested in coins. A half groat of one of the Edwards but, anything pre 1550-ish being out of my comfort zone, that's as far as I'm able to go. The double struck obverse has some pellets in the field, and there's a ring in the outer legend (above the N of London) on the reverse Thanks.
  15. December 1904…...
  16. So, I suppose nice to see the original article as published? :-) I have several years of the magazine bound into volumes, maybe it might be worth photographing the salesroom pages? Also, lots of the reader's Q&As which read as astonishing now: Queen Anne shilling? 1/-6d if in fine condition, maybe 2/- if well preserved etc. Oh, for a time machine….
  17. Ta Richard. It was all about the image file sizes. 500 max, I had to post each page in turn. Part one, part two etc. Thanks for tidying it up.
  18. Bored this evening so have been flicking through some old books. This article may be of some interest. Connoisseur Magazine , November 1904. Page one.
  19. Exactly. I thought the description and workmanship didn't at all tally. There are definitely border teeth evident on the 'blank' reverse too.
  20. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QUEEN-VICTORIA-PATTERN-OR-TRIAL-1878-HALFCROWN-VERY-RARE-NICE-CONDITION-/322451306871?hash=item4b13987977:g:XLcAAOSwbdpWW2nq
  21. Providing it will be free P&P.
