Good for you. Family first every time. Obviously, I'm a bit older. Before we moved to Cambridge for my wife's Phd Liverpool of the late 1970s/early 1980s was a fun time for me. Played in bands. Made some records. Here's me and Pete Burns LOL (I'm on the left, playing the Telecaster).

I'm Toxteth, then Allerton, then Toxteth again ( the late 1970s crappy bedsit years). Dovecote? I have a couple of friends who are originally from the Pilch Lane area. Also, back in the mid '70s, I had a girlfriend who lived in Huyton. We would often spend our Saturday nights at the Hillside pub then at the Hoe Down club, which I think was in the basement? This was all pre punk of course, after that it was the city centre and Eric's, The Grapes, The Armadillo etc.

Indeed. How's life treating you up in Cumbria? I know, like me, you're originally from Liverpool, but I don't know which area. Amazing at it seems (to me at least) while we were there today, for the first time in our lives, my wife and I visited Crosby. Nice beach and I was very taken with the Gormleys which are quite an impressive statement in the landscape. I had no idea there were so many of the buggers. 100!

Some of those coppers, bronzes, wreath crowns, and golds would surely fool a novice. And having had a quick look at the feedback I see people are snapping them up.

Mm, yes, that wording is a bit cheeky, isn't it. Still, if someone actually thought they were going to get all those pre 1947 tanners for £20 then more fool them.

If genuine the 1921 Australian florin is quite valuable. The George III is a contemporary counterfeit. The George IV has a silver bullion value only.

It is comforting to know I'm not the only one who finds this table unclear. To me it reads 338,160 farthings struck dated 1679, and I had always understood it was the least common of the '72-'79 series. -

Yes, thinner. Same size/weight flans as the rest but squashed out to a slightly broader diameter.

Hi Dave, I remember having a conversation with Rob about this on here a little while ago. I have a 1718 which, at 28mm, is also larger than my other dump halfpennies. Apparently, as these were struck without the use of a collar a diameter range of 25-28mm is perfectly normal. I've just now measured my 1717 copper proof too, that has a diameter of 26mm.

Ha ha, yes indeed. That was quick, wasn't it. Item descriptions have been revised and now include the words 'genuine facsimiles'. 'Genuine facsimiles'?!?! Could be the beginning of a whole new field of collecting and research.
