  1. Your last bit Mike about the company having a password is the one Mike ,I owned call centres and had sixty thousand business customers that we continued to look after the intitial sale and build a relationship with. Unfortunately we had that big a share of the market that competitors phoned up saying they were us as an easy introduction and assumptive. We therefore had passwords to ensure both parties were familiar with each other before the call was continued ....So yes secutity works both ways. However in the early days when we had know customers being polite ,courteous and listening to what the persons business wanted worked quite well Not all call centres tell lies and try to have people over and most reputable ones have a phone system that will record everything (even if the call is unanswered ) ,although the costs involved are high especially if you have hundreds of lines. The regulators should monitor the smaller groups of telesales teams just as much who in some cases have know other interest than making a quick few quid and are happy to lie to get it. All good fun and the choice is our own as to weather we listen or not. Pete.
  2. Thats terrible and more to the point someone will of told them but they still sold it ,i hope it was returned. For an auction house not to listen and just going ahead with something as obvious , the cataloguer must of had a gun to his head
  3. Well with a table cloth, brush, wheel trim, flip flops and sat in the bath on a box ,looking in the mirror i think Mr Wyon did a good job
  4. No i never said that and obviously being new to the forum you are not aware of my views on dishonesty .....I also made a point of using HIM in block capitals . The person who bought it can ask and do what they want ,someone who didnt buy it or bid asking questions after it had sold i feel would not help the buyer. Some sellers unfortunately are not truthfull or honest and better to just avoid. it was quite hard typing as got a table cloth wrapped round me to see if the dapery on Britannia is correct All good fun. Pete.
  5. Sounds like our good friend............If so surely your mistaken as everything he lists is correct and none of it shilled. If it was him i think he probably struggled to understand you as his English is nearly as bad as mine How do you mean he went back on the deal, if you bought it then told HIM what it was its hardly surprising.
  6. Are you just guessing what it looks like Kev , i cant see any video or pictures
  7. Think i better wait untill the wife goes out ,she thinks i am bonkers as it is without finding me sitting with a brush and wheel trim out of the lock up
  8. They are only buying one coin a year Zoo ,everything else they find in change and so £20 not much to spend. They would probably think it was us with more money than sense and dumb
  9. No i dont buy them Larry i just like looking at the pictures
  10. Yes Mike i looked at the others and would not question that one.I suppose it all goes back to if your spending a few quid you need to view them to be sure. From the picture i would not bid on the F6a ,however maybe it is
  11. Yes the one i have is IMO better to look at ,so wondered if there was another way to identify it ... R19
  12. The cataloguer will know a lot more than me Mike but i have a F6 in a PCGS slab MS65 that was less than £500 and from the picture wasnt sure if i was maybe missing something
  13. I didnt know were to post so here seemed as good a place as any. In the DNW Hiram Brown there is a penny attributed as a proof F6A ,there is Know lot number but the last one in the preview.Obviously i can only look at the picture and dont buy proofs but is there anything that confirms it as just looks a normal one and seen better currency than that one ? Any help would be appreciated as i have not got a clue. Pete. https://www.dnw.co.uk/auctions/catalogue/lot.php?auction_id=486&lot_id=1042
  14. Thanks Richard. Yes i have noticed although only been collecting a few years the proofs going up and up.Maybe they have interest to more wide spread coin collectors or penny collectors who have most of the others.I was looking at the crocker and workman sales earlier (varieties) and very few would IMO acheive the same values now. I am just going to go in the cuboard and see if there are any mobiles
  15. Hat Off Jerry and well spotted. If you keep adding them to Richards site they wont be rare anymore
  16. Someone such as yourself Richard who has collected a long time and watched alot more than most ,what do you think. I think Jerry is on the right lines low grade varieties when more are found can end up were there is more than the collectors who are prepared to pay good money for them.Coins that are scarce if found in high grade will always command big prices such as the 1862/1 you bought. I dont think there is more than twenty penny collectors in the country who will pay more than £1K for a low grade variety and without new collectors there is nobody to sell them to as most may already have one. The question is Richard ....What do you think please ?. Pete.
  17. Phone Heritage up in London maybe if you want to use NGC.
  18. No i think your getting mistaken with the cheaper one. The British bronze penny........Specialised edition ,all the pictures are in colour and a lot more in depth than the one you may be thinking of. If you go on the Michael coins website you will see the picture and description £50. Pete.
  19. The Gouby penny book for anyone looking at pennies is definately one to consider if not a must have. Probably most of the ones you are looking at have been studied by all the people who contributed to it ,so although your opinion may differ it has just about everything that has been found up untill it was published. The £50 may be well spent and i would definately recommend it before buying a coin.
  20. I have not got it to hand but Satin from memory has about seven or eight varieties (i think) of 1865/3. Definately quite a few I never thought to look in Gouby maybe not seven and gouby has five .
  21. I can think of other terms Dave but wont put them on here. They obviously have a good set up for the Auctions DNW after not buying anything yesterday i phoned up to pay for my lots i bought on Tuesday , they arrived this morning. Hat off to them . They have always been good each time i have bought from them ,so nice to give someone some credit when its due
  22. Yes that Candy Davis was a BU GEM i wouldnt be putting that away in a slab
  23. Thanks Mike as i did wonder who the collection was being sold by ,you dont see many scarce ones all at once
  24. That £20 service is only for coins Pre-decimal and as far as passing it on i dont think they photograph it so you could never be sure it was the same coin.
  25. I dont think there is as many penny collectors as we think for the varieties and does not seem many new collectors coming on the forum or from what i am told going to shows. Same auction a scabby 1860 T for £100 that was over £500 a few years ago at LCA ,more turn up and people have one prices come down IMO. I think the F32 went for about £80 i realise it wasnt very good but again i would think a few years ago it would of gone for more than that.
