  1. The cataloguer will know a lot more than me Mike but i have a F6 in a PCGS slab MS65 that was less than £500 and from the picture wasnt sure if i was maybe missing something
  2. I didnt know were to post so here seemed as good a place as any. In the DNW Hiram Brown there is a penny attributed as a proof F6A ,there is Know lot number but the last one in the preview.Obviously i can only look at the picture and dont buy proofs but is there anything that confirms it as just looks a normal one and seen better currency than that one ? Any help would be appreciated as i have not got a clue. Pete. https://www.dnw.co.uk/auctions/catalogue/lot.php?auction_id=486&lot_id=1042
  3. Thanks Richard. Yes i have noticed although only been collecting a few years the proofs going up and up.Maybe they have interest to more wide spread coin collectors or penny collectors who have most of the others.I was looking at the crocker and workman sales earlier (varieties) and very few would IMO acheive the same values now. I am just going to go in the cuboard and see if there are any mobiles
  4. Hat Off Jerry and well spotted. If you keep adding them to Richards site they wont be rare anymore
  5. Someone such as yourself Richard who has collected a long time and watched alot more than most ,what do you think. I think Jerry is on the right lines low grade varieties when more are found can end up were there is more than the collectors who are prepared to pay good money for them.Coins that are scarce if found in high grade will always command big prices such as the 1862/1 you bought. I dont think there is more than twenty penny collectors in the country who will pay more than £1K for a low grade variety and without new collectors there is nobody to sell them to as most may already have one. The question is Richard ....What do you think please ?. Pete.
  6. Phone Heritage up in London maybe if you want to use NGC.
  7. No i think your getting mistaken with the cheaper one. The British bronze penny........Specialised edition ,all the pictures are in colour and a lot more in depth than the one you may be thinking of. If you go on the Michael coins website you will see the picture and description £50. Pete.
  8. The Gouby penny book for anyone looking at pennies is definately one to consider if not a must have. Probably most of the ones you are looking at have been studied by all the people who contributed to it ,so although your opinion may differ it has just about everything that has been found up untill it was published. The £50 may be well spent and i would definately recommend it before buying a coin.
  9. I have not got it to hand but Satin from memory has about seven or eight varieties (i think) of 1865/3. Definately quite a few I never thought to look in Gouby maybe not seven and gouby has five .
  10. I can think of other terms Dave but wont put them on here. They obviously have a good set up for the Auctions DNW after not buying anything yesterday i phoned up to pay for my lots i bought on Tuesday , they arrived this morning. Hat off to them . They have always been good each time i have bought from them ,so nice to give someone some credit when its due
  11. Yes that Candy Davis was a BU GEM i wouldnt be putting that away in a slab
  12. Thanks Mike as i did wonder who the collection was being sold by ,you dont see many scarce ones all at once
  13. That £20 service is only for coins Pre-decimal and as far as passing it on i dont think they photograph it so you could never be sure it was the same coin.
  14. I dont think there is as many penny collectors as we think for the varieties and does not seem many new collectors coming on the forum or from what i am told going to shows. Same auction a scabby 1860 T for £100 that was over £500 a few years ago at LCA ,more turn up and people have one prices come down IMO. I think the F32 went for about £80 i realise it wasnt very good but again i would think a few years ago it would of gone for more than that.
  15. If the coin is problem free and the money going to charity especially a kids one dont bother with ebay. I will pay you more than you will get on there or any auction come to that. PM me at any time should you wish to. Pete.
  16. If you type in the search box top right 1863 open 3 Larry there will be plenty of pictures that have been posted previously. Also quite a few on the LCA website if you click on prices realised and again enter 1863 open 3. Pete.
  17. Me and Michael must of been typing at the same time but atleast now you have got your answer twice
  18. Hi Chris. Dont be taken in by all the hype and crap on ebay. All the Two pence up to 1982 say NEW PENCE. This means there are millions of them and not worth anything. When the NEW PENCE was dropped in 1982 it was replaced by TWO PENCE some were produced in sets with 1983 on one side and NEW PENCE on the other. This is the one that is rare and sells for big money known as a mule with a different Obverse and Reverse (Heads and Tails)Sorry if its not what you wanted to hear. Keep smiling. Pete.
  19. Think its all about if we want something we buy it and if we are happy it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks. There is no need for anyone to defend what they have bought (apart from to the wife) its upto them. I have paid more for things i want ,not just coins but allsorts of daft things and buy them for ME. We are collectors so fill gaps ,some gaps are worth more to us than someone else. Well bought Jaggy ....If your happy thats all that matters
  20. Just been looking at the results....Will be some happy vendors again
  21. NHS please have a rethink I was taken into hospital by ambulance again and was in for a few days and cannot thank the NHS enough once again. However when i was discharged they gave me a carrier bag of medication...... Asking the nurse were did i pay for it all ,she just told me it was free for everyone that is discharged. They are giving thousands of £s worth of drugs to people like myself everyday and IMO should charge everyone that pays for a prescription. All the staff were brilliant and feel £millions could be put quite easily back into the system. Pete.
  22. Nice touch by someone and HAT OFF to you
  23. I dont doubt you Richard as you must have the book with the 1860 6 + H in it. When was this put in Spink and maybe one of the problems that they put it in and later did not have enough proof to confirm it ?.
  24. I hopefully dont want to be negative unless you had someone who could be sure of the variety you could have just thousands of pictures. The english grading company has about 80 different 1860 pennies and they are just ones they have had in hand and given an opinion on by close inspection. On the other thread you posted on the 1817 they have done about twenty different ones......Was it a B or an R or a P i just use that as an example. Some of the copper pennies could end up in the thousands as its more unusual to find one that has not been repaired re-cut or punched. I think if you put them in an encyclopedia it would not fit through the front door Good luck though
