  1. Not knowing anything about them but looking at auction pictures are they all just low relief to the OBV ,ones described as UNC or A/UNC dont look any worse than the one above.
  2. I know your not bothered Mike but have just been talking to Dave about something else and mentioned the 1940. The one i sent he sold on his list straight away but thought he had another ,although when he took the coin out of a flip it wasnt one. I was sure the one i sent him was ok 🙂
  3. Dont worry about it all good fun ,you do say on the other thread it is your coin. Keep smiling. Pete.
  4. Are you winding me up Bob.............
  5. Sorry for any confusion Bob I read a thread...........1876 Penny No H.... which you put the picture of the 1870 Dot on saying you had sold one and Gouby nad noted one in his book.So just assumed why you only new of two at the time the picture was your own. POSTED at the same time bob put his pictures up 😂
  6. The picture was put on by Bob as the one he had ,so hopefully he still has the OBV picture for you 🙂
  7. I have phoned earlier Terry.....They have helped me before a couple of years ago ,although he wanted to confirm with someone else who wasnt available and to see if anything is recorded. .One of the reasons i have been given previously is due to there not being any going into circulation the year before ,they did not want pennies to be hoarded or given at Christmas to kids which apparently was common then.If that was one of the reasons it definately worked as 1934 pennies in Mint state are extremely hard to find as you know. All the other bronze wasnt treated ,maybe kids would of been negged out with a farthing for christmas so didnt think it was worth it
  8. I think i may of asked on here before and also asked a few dealers without any definate answer. Does anyone know why the 1934 were mint toned please ? !944-46 i have read before about the metal mix although 1934 i have been given a few different ideas but nothing that someone was sure about. As an afterthought i will phone the Royal Mint and see if they can give me an answer 🙂
  9. I think its more likely he has sold the one i sent him as was one 100% I will also keep a look out for you to find a better one. When i sent you a PM the other day the other dealer i mentioned is definately worth a try 🙂
  10. Interesting story on those Mike. I know the dealer who bought them ,also the underbidder ........What they did with them and how much they sold for. I wont put it on a public forum though but not a good comparable 😂 You will see ones that have sold for £100 etc and think maybe its people who dont have the patience to look or who think they may be scarcer than they really are.
  11. Yes i agree Terry maybe a bit less 15 to 1......As a guess 🙂 You can buy them off dealers in UNC -BU for £50 / £70 so either nobody wants them or plenty about and if they were much harder to find people would be selling them for more maybe.
  12. I dont have a clue what the issue price was but the ones selling in completed istings on ebay are a lot less than the one in your link ,one is in an ebay auction now if you want one and plenty as a BIN , some will probably still be for sale next year. The Chard one is a perfect example of buying to (try ) sell at an inflated price when they have sold out and have put a price on that i doubt anyone will pay. The circus is just that and some dealers may have them collecting dust for years if they are too expensive. My own opinion is the RM dont put enough in circulation ,so they can sell a 10p for £3 as they are doing with the alphabet ones and next week will be the same just another design maybe a £2, I would think most £2 / 50p coin collectors are loosing track due to how many designs have been produced over the last couple of years......Most in Limited numbers
  13. I have had a few decent ones off ebay Mike not attributed and that is how i found the one you have just bought.
  14. Its not UNC Peck......But with good lustre and yes cheap ,it was one of mine so have seen it in hand 🙂 There is one on ebay that has been on a while for £35 and its better than that one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GB-1940-PENNY-SCARCE/192893122637
  15. Yes 100% they know Peck and create the market interest to make the profits and as long as people are buying them will keep bringing out new designs that wont go into circulation. They are bringing that many out though that i feel in a couple of years the designs not for circulation will be worth a lot less and forgotten about. The big selling point for them is.....Limited number 🙂
  16. IMO its not stange at all ,people are buying them to sell due to the limited numbers Snowman , Gruffalo ,wedgwood anything with limited numbers.Unfortunately the collector who wants one now may have to pay more. However that i feel is the maximum most would ever be worth as the same number of collectors wanting one in a couple of years time will be less. People are buying the gold wedgwood and others to sell and i am sure some are buying more than 3 ,so can set the price at what they want when they have sold out I.E. £1250 although London coin company has them at nearly £2K The Royal mint should maybe issue more to look after collectors rather than..... Only Limited numbers available. There will always be exceptions ,but dont feel with most of these they are anything other than a nice thing in a box.
  17. I think Sword is right ,unless its a coin design that goes into circulation by the thousands / millions people will have forgotten about them in a couple of years as they keep releasing other designs.Collectors who want one will buy one now and keep it in the same condition and i think the new collector wont pay or have to pay over the odds in a couple of years and will again just buy a new release. There will surely become a time were people get sick of seeing a different design every couple of weeks. Can anyone tell me the gold value of the wedgwood please at todays prices ?
  18. Had another duty bill that is wrong today ,so another letter to Coventry. Although i have one thats been awaiting clearance at Midlands airport since the 7th APRIL.........Think they may of lost it 😮
  19. Yes Mike i agree and as i mentioned all three are scarce / Rare in high grade.and Peck is not on his own trying to find a high grade 1946. Think you have more chance of being hit by lightning than finding two 🙂
  20. Yes Mike.....your SPOT on
  21. Yes its always going to be less than a normal coin of the same year due to it just being a FLAW / DOT. The 1897 DOT and 1909 DOT are the same and more than enough for anyone who wants one and they are turning up all the time. However as there are less of them than just the normal date to find them better than VF is going to be much harder. So plenty or plenty -ish ....You can find them all in low grade quite easily. Probably most people dont even look as either have them or dont want them
  22. A curiosty thats a bit different , why the seller finished the sale early there is an inverted 1928 penny in the next LCA with a lower estimate if its the kind of thing anyone is looking for.
  23. Thats a good one Terry and hat off and Richards is the best i have seen. One sold graded as GEF for £340 + at LCA nearly two years ago. They will be RARE in UNC as Dave Craddock has only had one in nearly fifty yearrs. Plenty in low grade though 🙂
  24. I didnt say there was anything wrong ? The question was ........Were the coins sent from America to the UK by a TPG ?
  25. Thanks Eric. The only details though i would like to know is were the coins sent by a TPG to the UK as you mentioned or an auction house ? For the TPG company to assign a variety by sending the coin to someone in the UK not employed by them (Mark Rasmussen ) i cant get my head round 😮
