  1. Good find Jerry and yes a good reference.
  2. Should say missing after D of F:D
  3. Well spotted Brian.
  4. Not to worry Brian ,think probably everyone on here who collects pennies has bought a variety at sometime from a bad picture ,hoping its one they are looking for. Only to end up being garbage . Better luck next time .
  5. We must of all got our money back after the Derby Peter. Starkey must have had nightmares after for years top jockey but.............
  6. Yes all race horses are auctioned in guineas
  7. Do they sell those sunglasses aswell
  8. I saw some pictures a lad was doing with a cheap one in the pub a few weeks ago,he had only paid a couple of pound for it and the pictures were really good.
  9. Lovely coin. This might be a daft question but how many approximately of them were minted ?.
  10. Sure a few will help you Brian . Maybe Jaggy will have a look .
  11. I cant see many if any at all selling Swanny ,if they were with a 200% mark up everyone on here would be at it
  12. Whos this CGS ?..................
  13. I would keep that one looks nice.
  14. I havent got an 1849 peter
  15. Some nice pennies and that one catherine with the colon much scarcer in that grade as you will be aware. I have a nice 1841 no colon its the one as my avatar pretty much full lustre graded CGS 85.
  16. Thank you Bernie .
  17. Only buying copper/bronze a lot have an almost pink colour due to spending to long in something acidic such as vinegar. The small scratches is a giveaway along with the fields being different to the devices such as lettering etc.
  18. Surely someone must know. Coins listed in auctions by Spink , dnw , lca, baldwins and the workman sale all give provenance as ex-Peake. Pete.
  19. Yes i am curious aswell ?. Welcome to the forum i assume you will post a picture.
  20. Shame that someone is paying for something that is garbage.
  21. Good find Brian. I bought one the other week and paid about £40 although had some lustre and was a decent coin. Was in the james workman sale but went unsold . Well spotted .
  22. Brian if it turns out to be wrong as the top part of the three looked...... throw it in the bin. Maybe bite the bullet and just buy one for £80 ish,i believe they are becoming more common like the 1863 open penny and other documented varieties The chances of buying one on ebay unrecognised is slim as people are always looking. Keep searching and more importantly enjoy it but remember if the coin is referenced others are looking aswell. I have bought numerous copper pennies looking at the variety that were garbage but always learning and not cost me much to find out. Pete.
  23. Yes i agree on the top curve i would of taken a chance for £2.00 as Brian did and would of gambled ,it wasnt on ebay and for that money can always throw it away. Anyway Brian can you please put the pictures up of the blown up date and hope your lucky. Pete.
  24. No expert and just having a guy taking pictures of some of mine in slabs and raw again today. He altered the background of the obv and rev so they were on one picture combined without any difference in background colour. As an example your pictures of A and E of your posts.
