  1. Smartass made me smile , Bernie i know for a fact some have been told from forum members. The question is would they have done so if they had one ?. I dont think so........ . The forum members on here would like your honest opinion.
  2. I have spotted over the last couple of years varieties of pennies that were not described as such on ebay. Sorry wasnt sure weather to post as a new topic / more pennies. The seller has been informed that the coin they have listed is scarce/rare (sometimes by a forum member). I think in the cases i have noted the person has one already ,infact i know. Question.......... Would you tell the seller or not ?. I have been watching pennies and all of a sudden the price has gone up considerably. After looking at information added on EBAY they have been informed its RARE. This can be frustrating after having the coin in my watch list for a few days. Alternatively if you DIDNT have one would you be as quick to SHOUT. Opinions please as wondered weather its right or wrong ?. This i appreciate happens in auction house descriptions but slightly different . Pete.
  3. Yes that looks nice NONS.
  4. Just got one back from CGS. Decided to send it as appeared problem free. F9 Mule came back as 40 VF UIN is 37345 Pete.
  5. Please dont tell me that Jerry was hoping you would keep away. Unfortunately we seem to always look for the same ones............
  6. Thanks Matt. Take your christmas hat off........
  7. Didnt mean you Ian meant the new ones listed on there website for the next auction.
  8. Already touting some nice pennies for the next auction
  9. Sounds like you had a busy day Jerry. The F10 triple F was one of the ones i left a bid on.
  10. Yes if you put a copper (not bronze) coin in acetone and leave for longer than 30-40 seconds will lighten the high points. In my experience
  11. Yes rob its been cleaned . The acetone without olive oil makes it reflective ?. When i have practised with a couple of cheap coins and left in acetone to long always appear bright. Think the fingerprint has always been there but interested in your comments.
  12. Yes i only look at the P as the easiest indicator to spot.
  13. Nice coin Ian. Dont want to mess with it anymore.
  14. They only tend to show on coins with good lustre so assume unless its got hold of the coin and is really dark its a nice coin. Have you got a picture ?.
  15. Good Avatar that Matt
  16. Quite a few high prices Matt. I bid on five above low estimate and got blown out on them all
  17. Results are up.
  18. Just had a look and for £100 well bought and a good buy. Hat off Paul.
  19. Well two grading companies have looked and they know a lot more than a beginner like me. I probably get fussy when i send them to CGS as dont want to spend £25 to get them rejected. Nice coin , will you be selling it ?.
  20. Not at all if your happy its a nice coin. Just looked like verd on the reverse at twenty five past that was active rather than the large spot on the obverse. A nice coin in UNC.... IMO..... but as you know CGS tend to be strict. Whats your opinion looking under a glass and tilting the coin under a light ?.
  21. Thats obviously a LCA / CGS picture Paul Its as you are aware got verd /problems IMO and although UNC was it sold already slabbed ?.
  22. You know your subject Jaggy and obviously have an amazing collection. I often look at ones you have bought and all look really nice. Any pictures to share on anything you have bought lately ?. You may be able to help me,i recently bought a copper penny that was in a recent heritage sale 1858 F/B in Def although not described that way. It was in the Bob Bennett collection ,can i assume he was an american collector of just pennies as Heritage/internet does not say anything about him ?.
  23. Discipline and how much do i want it are unfortunately two different things. I can understand the theory but sometimes i have just bought them and crossed it off the list. I dont buy them for an investment i do that elsewere and if in years to come i have paid to much well so be it ,so long as its ok and problem free i am happy. Dont get me wrong we dont want to pay way over for anything but £100 on a coin at £500 + not sometimes worth waiting for another.
  24. VILE............ not heard that for a long time
  25. Right, doing my best Mystic Meg impression I can see a tall dark short-sighted stranger paying £750 for the F8 mule and £200 for that vile F41. Cant see why he would of sent them to be slabbed. Thanks Rash
