  1. Yeah must've done. The only thing he did change was the price and the description ebay will never keep an eye on this type of thing though, they're notoriously s*** at doing anything about listings that go against their own policy. Fat cats don't stay fat without all that money.
  2. same pictures too, couldn't even be bothered to take his own
  3. Shows us some pictures!
  4. It is difficult and entirely depends where you want to go with your collection, I think the main reason the powerhouses get to the stage of micro varieties is because the initial list was filled, then the subsequent additions get filled, then when running out of things to collect, start to really scrutinize every coin, looking for differences. At the moment I collect (pennies) all the years, mint marks, the main recognised varieties like 1903 open 3, 1911 Gouby X, recessed ear varieties etc, and then have a side collection for anything of interest. There are some I have like the missing wave varieties that I don't want to include in my collection because they're caused by the natural process of minting coins and not by purposeful design changes. If you haven't already, I'd definitely recommend getting literature on your area of collecting because there are some excellent books out there to help you along the way.
  5. Any dealer should have gram scales just make sure you find the right one.
  6. Looking good! A great year set, if I were to get one it would definitely be 1911. Got a higher res pic of the reverse? I want to see that colour up close!
  7. Guy, please sell me that 1874h mis-strike........... I'll put a couple of my favourites up, I've got far too many now it's getting silly
  8. Hi Jim, It's a silver plated coin I would say, the overall appearance gives me that impression. The details are all a bit fuzzy, where the plating is just filling it in.
  9. Guy is "The Coinery" on here, you can PM him here. He's posted a couple of times in this thread too so you can get to his profile by clicking on his name. Remember, if you want to message him privately then click on the "message" box, don't leave a message where it says "Leave a message on The Coinery's feed", or everyone will be able to see it.
  10. Results are now up.
  11. I'm guessing that lustre is what pushed it that high. Anyone know what lot 2477 went for?
  12. Lol. But regardless of whether I care, we still don't know and can't check to answer the question. I remember checking through some of the highest graded coins one and there were loads all graded at whatever the highest one I could find was. I can't remember what the grade was, but there was no single coin with the highest grade as far as I could see.
  13. Haha everyone's at it, all of you've posted since I started doing one too. Here are mine anyway, single on top in both pictures.
  14. Don't know because we can't check the league tables anymore.
  15. Try this one
  16. What a shame. I've amended the thread.
  17. Yes good, detailed work. I can see what you mean as well, the details for the proposed D are definitely much sharper. Playing devil's advocate though, could this not be due to re-engraving on the master hub? Therefore identical dies (theoretically) but with much better details? It would explain why the legends and Britannia match perfectly between C and D, only for the differences to be in the quality..
  18. Yeah... spares... lol Dunno what it's like, @The Coinery get yer pics out!
  19. Here's that half crown
