Lol. But regardless of whether I care, we still don't know and can't check to answer the question. I remember checking through some of the highest graded coins one and there were loads all graded at whatever the highest one I could find was. I can't remember what the grade was, but there was no single coin with the highest grade as far as I could see.

Yes good, detailed work. I can see what you mean as well, the details for the proposed D are definitely much sharper. Playing devil's advocate though, could this not be due to re-engraving on the master hub? Therefore identical dies (theoretically) but with much better details? It would explain why the legends and Britannia match perfectly between C and D, only for the differences to be in the quality..

I would definitely recommend grabbing a couple of books if you haven't already, at the top of this thread above your post there is a link to the Rotographic books. Excellent references and some are a must have for any collector.

Lustre I'm sure is just the reflective properties of the surface, what you're removing is patina. I'm no silver expert but dipping silver I don't think is a massive faux pas, you are removing the patina from the coin which is not part of the original make-up, therefore preserving the coin instead of removing actual layers of the metal itself.

Yeah, amongst other things. I actually find the trident the hardest indicator, the easiest is definitely the placement of the 1 over the tooth, and second the obvious thicker border rim (IMO).

There's a couple of differences although on this variety it is a little difficult to differentiate, in the rarer variety the border teeth and rim are slightly longer, Britannia is a little bit smaller, the upright serif in P should point towards a gap between 2 teeth. The most significant telltale IMO is the 1 in the date should be directly over a border tooth, whereas on the normal variety it sits between 2 teeth.

There is a very rare type of this year but unfortunately this is not that type, it's just the bog standard variety. An intriguing find though.

Hi Dave, nothing of value there it's rather corroded. As to the placement I'm not too sure, perhaps there was a tradition of placing a penny inside the house for good luck?

Windows did that to me the other day, now I'm stuck with it too. I'd be interested to see how good the editing software is that it comes with, that could really tempt me to buy one. The time-lapse is really good, but what's going on with the sky near the end? Looks like you've got a rave going on or something

That's pretty nifty then, you can't get video display for the GoPro although Slow mo and time lapse you can do. I think it does 4k but you need to buy the Hero 3 (whichever the latest is has it). I also like the editing side, it's pretty arduous getting the GoPro videos imported and loaded into an editor before you can do anything.
