  1. Yeah for sure Very strange, the problem with things like this is that it also stops people from reporting that they're having problems because they can't post. Chris has mail so hopefully he can get to the bottom of it.
  2. I believe the Nexus 7 runs Chrome as default(?), if that's the case it will have it's own ad-blocker installed. There's been no forum updates in a while, but this could also be the problem, if there are sneaky ads which have figured a way to leech into the site then the forum providers will have released a patch, it could just be that the patch hasn't been done yet.
  3. If it's doing it now then shouldn't be this. I was actually thinking that it's because of the upgrade that it's a problem, because I've not upgraded my ipad but I don't get any ads.. But I guess not. Just thinking out loud.
  4. @azda have you upgraded both your mac/ipad to the newest iOS yet? iOS 10 I think it is.
  5. There's not a lot I can do. I just think the update needs to be done, but sometimes there are things that stop working unless you have a certain version of something installed and if not then upgrade that before doing the update blah blah, so I'd rather leave the forum updates to Chris.
  6. I bought a brockage once which was just listed as 'odverse coin', needless to say it went pretty cheap
  7. No idea what's going on, ads haven't just been switched on so it's not a case of pressing a button to stop them, if it was a forum addition it would show on all your devices, not just the macbook. @Chris Perkins, a few people have mentioned having issues with clicking the submit reply button, could be something to do with the update?
  8. Well that's just right out stupid.. so to use Catawiki you need to offer free P+P and free delivery?
  9. Some good points there Leo, perhaps this will settle down as the euro coin hub of auctions. - eBay eventually cracked down on the high postage fees by charging a percentage against your postage, too.
  10. I'd agree with you, Ian. Although I would note that the 2 coins are taken in very different lights, and so any bag marks and dings might be masked slightly by the over-exposure on the second example. Overall, the second one looks a lot cleaner (neat and tidy, not cleaned!), the rim on the first one has it's fair share of knocks.
  11. Send me a PM with any info you have (what shows or doesn't show, if you can/can't log in etc) and I'll have a gander
  12. I believe it was on an 1861 halfpenny Jac, here's a picture of the obv. Look to this thread, he mentions the find and extra info, but further down mentions that he has found another one.
  13. I think one line in that sums it all up - par for the course on eBay. You get what you pay for here. I will add that a member on here bought the first listing of the dot penny at the same price as me (3 pound) and did actually receive the coin in the photograph. It was a genuine oversight by the seller, but certainly they should not be re-using pictures, they really should know better. But as I know all too well, there are caveats galore when buying on eBay, so it's always in consideration.
  14. On this occasion I will name and shame, because the seller specifically deals with coins and has been doing so for a very long time. This is bad practice and shouldn't happen on a 99p coin or a 500 pound one. Global-Coin
  15. Sounds like an extremely broad generalisation. I wasn't forgiving and did what I would do whether it was an ebay seller or auction house, contacted the seller, explained the error, received a refund. I do pay proper money for coins, both on ebay and off ebay, I also pay less than the value on coins, both on ebay and off ebay. I get the qualms with it, and no I didn't complain that my coin was something different, I didn't whine and moan about how unfair ebay is or about how I didn't get a million pound coin for a few quid, I was just pointing out a good buy initially and then updating everyone on the situation afterwards. Your last comment is just completely out of whack - so when I buy a nice coin to add to my collection, it's greed because it's from ebay? So when I make a listing for any coin I sell and I always start my listings at 99p..... greed? I get you don't like to use ebay Rob, but that doesn't mean everyone who does use it are automatically subscribing to bourgeoisie monthly.
  16. Well I already knew this wasn't turning up as I'd been told it's already in another member's hands alas I received a normal 1946 this morning. At least it's in a good home-
  17. I see Gary, just rubbing it in
  18. Relax and enjoy, Declan, relax and enjoy..
  19. I think they're scans? But he's right, you should up the scan quality!
  20. Also they're pretty nicely tucked away so aren't very obtrusive, at least not on my screen.
  21. The only ads on the forum are the catawiki, amazon and the Petitioncrowncoins ad. Everything else is more than likely just cookies following you around. Try clearing your cookies then they should disappear.
  22. That's true, I'm relying on them identifying every fake in that batch which they probably can't do, especially not if they are as good as that one that kept passing the coin slot test.
