  1. Penny/Halfpenny/Farthing are Lighthouse/ship Reverse so not 1853, I agree with you Pete
  2. Could be, I spent the night before in Cardiff Town Centre
  3. Careful, it is getting cold again Snow forecast, don't want them turning BLUE
  4. Unfortunately no photos taken, I thought there would be restrictions so didn't take a camera and my old mobile wasn't up to the task, good to start a new thread, it is a very interesting tour finishing with a walk through a (small) museum at the end. Is it still the same £1 coin or are they different now, my images three posts up
  5. I had a chat with the guy on the press, I asked about the set up, dies and pressure used, his reply was that it was a press used for general coinage relocated specifically for the visits, only one set of dies had been made, the striking pressure was reduced down from that normally used to prolong the life of the die and thought they would strike around 100k in total. Has anyone else been on the Tour, are there any other designs of £1 coin or other denominations that have been struck by Visitors there
  6. The visitor centre coin is the old round type, different heraldic beast design but similar to the last coin released
  7. There is a Mini Car on display in the Royal Mint foyer completely covered in Pennies, the exception being glazed parts.
  8. http://thefakepoundcoindatabase.co.uk/index.htm
  9. All but one sold listing remains and all those current have now been removed
  10. There are a few on Ebay currently, and completed listing show they are selling around £120 each
  11. Last trial released were the Bi Metallic £2 coins, they were issued to the RNIB,
  12. They are given to service industry professionals to calibrate coin operated machines also institutes for the blind and partially sighted to ensure they are recognisable by touch. Once trials are completed they are to be returned, only some 'get lost' but find their way onto Ebay, Royal Mint could nip this in the bud, list all those returned themselves for a couple of pound each, flood Ebay and make them a common coin, would take the wind out of the sails of those currently selling coins that are official stolen, even by finding
  13. https://www.galata.co.uk Several pages of World issued books
  14. Clearly isn't a Farthing either. PT Penny
  15. I remember a High St store called Pollards when I lived in Leytonstone in the 70's, they were an old fashioned Haberdashery, selling all types of 'smalls', the 100% cotton underpants were a tight waist fit but the gusset finished near your knees, M&S were very posh in comparison
  16. The problem always comes down to cost I, as a Surveyor/Estimator, would have to allow significant cost to Projects where there was a History of significance/interest as part of any Tender for Construction cost, this could be in the £tens of thousands and added substantially to Project times, because nobody would want to pay for the Archeological work necessary to preserve the history before any of the construction work could start
  17. If it three coins the same, it would suggest a good number are circulating. Ebay will find its value, but the price will drop off as more and more are listed
  18. A very Merry Xmas to you all
  19. Sounds like the top of my road
  20. It is the larger 5 so Large date, pleased to see it only has a Pop of 1
  21. Your first line is very reflective of your own attitude reading your following comments, Thanks for popping in, goodbye
  22. Location:Denmark
  23. I hold the current record indoors, 13 minutes talking about Window replacements to one of the spammers from 'Microsoft India' telling me my Computer has been compromised, being a Surveyor I even managed to include technical terms like fenestration and multi point locking into the conversation to add to the confusion their end.
