  1. 03/03/2013 Auction 140 English Coins Lot 1956 Halfcrown 1875 ESC 696 UNC and lightly toned with a hint of cabinet friction on the reverse, a couple of tiny spots on the obverse barely detract More coins like this £360
  2. You asked a question then disagree with the answer which doesn't suit you, so why ask in the First place. I didn't realise we were asking about CGS graded coins as you only asked about a Spink UNC and a UNC is UNC without involving a CGS grade, of which a 2 point gap makes no damn odds to me or any other collector of a coin and not a number on a slab. Soink 2014 was £900 in UNC Soink 2015 was £975 in UNC CCGB 2015 States £350 in UNC/BU, so now what say You? Is this Book wrong? Tony Claytons website states £550, is this also wrong? Just because 1 auction throws a curveball price doesn't mean it's the given price, Show me the same year/grade coin in 5 BRITISH auctions from Last year at the price you've quoted and then i'll believe Spink So so if we go back now to 2014 and check those prices WITHOUT slabs then we can compare
  3. None taken, but I'm not sure what we're actually talking about lmfao
  4. Lol marmite, I think being blunt and straight to the point is more useful than pampering someones ego, it's not too everyones taste but I'm not here to please anyone, I'm here too learn as much as the next man....
  5. I would take these coin prices with a pinch of salt, best checking realised prices from auctions. A UNC 1875 sold for £380 at Londoncoins last year, these are overpriced in Spink 1875 UNC - £1100 1876 UNC - £1150 1879 UNC - £1150 1882 UNC £1150
  6. Not at all sure why rules and which should be bent. If a coin is not as described by the seller then it should be returned if the buyer wishes. Just because a personal circumstance has come up doesn't mean too say that anyone should just accept something. How do you actually know her circumstances are what they are? Do you personally know the seller or are you just accepting her word of what she is saying? I'm not trying to look/be heartless here but if she has real problems at home then perhaps her full concentration should be there and not trying to flog a few coins in eBay.
  7. I never commented because the picture isn't the best in regards to giving a grading opinion.
  8. Londons are very slow at uploading what is coming in their sales, then when it arrives it's like having to trawl through eBay searching for something. DNW on the other hand have over 500 coins available to view for their March sale. I find LCs a bit sloppy
  9. It's not a penny
  10. This has been dipped and for far too long
  11. I'd also say it wasn't UNC. The Thistle on the REV has wear for a start plus the OBV has far too many contact marks.. GEF or slightly better for me.
  12. It seems Londoncoins are selling a collection of farthings in their March sale, so incase anyone is interested, although they are slabbed by CGS you can always break them out..... http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/preview_images/Large/152_14526157346C36510_1.jpg
  13. Would'nt be surprised if the owner has seen this thread lol
  14. If it pleases you jac then you should simply create another thread. The idiocy will only last so long though before the chief finally steps in. So, feel free to pop another penny thread in, in fact, throw a many up as you feel ?
  15. But it's not the pictures of the coins in question that is cluttering up the forum boards, it's the amount of threads on the same topic. The pictures of the pennies and all other denominations are in ONE place, the penny topic is SPREAD over 15 different threads which is where my complaint is. As i've stated, it's more to do with getting a pinned thread with the ability to add sub threads into that ONE thread.
  16. No, its nothing to Do with pennies but i'm assuming that Most of the Penny boys will click on this thread hoping that it has something to Do with the bronze lurgy that is appearing on the Forum. So now that you've here You might As well Click on the informative link about 6 PENNIES, or the sixpence ? http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/awards/WinningSetDetail.aspx?AwardSetID=64480
  17. That is correct, but there is no sub forum as yet for pennies which means that this is basically a double threads which is again not required
  18. No not really as it's still the same topic of which there is yet another plus we already have an aquisition of the week thread, so in essence a double thread which is really not required. it looks like it's bordering on the ridiculous now.....
  19. Not unless Spanish 8 reales came in copper
  20. Described as follows George III copper Proof Bank of England Dollar of 5 Shillings 1804 PR66 Brown NGC, KM-Tn1a, ESC-1935 (old ESC-152), thick flan. On obverse, stop after REX, leaf to center; on reverse "K" in relief. Even chocolate brown color, with fully mirrored fields. The finest certified example of this type.
  21. Personally i would keep both due to the host coins being visible, they are of a Great time in British history when the Navy was kicking Spanish ass. Surprisingly enough a Proof BoE went through Heritage Last week unsold, $1500 Here is the REV of mine from above. The undertype can be seen through the legend in BANK
  22. I've also seen ghosting on Victoria bronze which also had nothing to do with WW1
  23. I think having the host coin clearly visible makes These coins a bit more interesting, it's a pity they Are not more widely collected As there Are quite a few different types.
