  1. Please do as i don't think it possible to dip/clean a proof without ruining it somehow.
  2. Would be nice to know where or WHO is trying to sell You this. Genuine ones Are selling around £3.5k.
  3. There Are some things books can't teach us John. I would also be in The dipped camp, lustre seems to be Strippen from Parts of The coin and possibly legt a Little too long As can be seen from just beging The back legs of The horse. Seems to be high grade though, Leaving it by The window a few months might help it retone quicker.
  4. azda

    New

The colour of it, it's far too bright, especially noticable on the OBV of the coin,
  5. azda

    New

It does, but again sadly has been cleaned
  6. azda

    New

    The 1902 has been cleaned/polished
  7. I might have to put my GEF on there then if that's the prices in lower grade
  8. Same here, had no problems with it on the aye pad through kindle app. I left the Spink book alone this year as there was no significant increases from the 2014 to 2015 book to justify paying another £30, so i'll perhaps wait until either the 2017 or 2018 editions before buying another
  9. Funnily enough shagreen, probably one of the commonest crowns but also one of my favourites.
  10. Seems ok on The aye pad although have The same as our new admin on the aye phone
  11. Very strange, Never had too Do that before
  12. The silver coin was a normal picture with a large kb, The 2nd i had to Upload into photobucket because i couldn't upload into The Next post As it prohibited me from Doing so
  13. I have one of These which is proof like
  14. Another techie question regarding the new forum software. Previously we could upload 500kb pictures per post but that now seems to have changed to 500kb per thread, so if I've uploaded a picture into a thread at max 500kb i couldn't add another picture again into that Thread, why has this changed?
  15. Both images taken with an old Olympus 7.1mp camera with no tripods or extra lighting just a steady hand and daylight
  16. Use natural daylight and highest makro settings.
  17. The 30 has been stripped of all toning leaving it looking like a stone which is what happens when it's left far too long in silver dip, I don't think this one has anything to do with photography unfortunately
  18. You might be misinformed about the pampering ego part as I was replying to Nordle on a totally different subject, he had just commented on your post in which I replied to it, it had nothing to do with this post
  19. And this lovely specimen from Goldbergs graded as MS63 which is 1 point less than the eBay coin you mentioned Mike, which is for sale at over £1000 i might add, And so the MS63 sold for $525, which does add much kudos to my point of why would I pay another £700 for a point difference in grade, silly eh http://www.acsearch.info/search.html?term=1875+halfcrown+&category=1-2&en=1&de=1&fr=1&it=1&es=1&ot=1&images=1&currency=usd&thesaurus=1&order=0&company= Thanks also for your input Vicky, I have been stating your same observation from the start of this topic, but Mike knows best. It's a debate and opinion Mike, no hard feelings ?
  20. One mans grade may not be anothers. A 2 point difference on a TPG slab would NOT encourage me to part with an extra £700, check the TPG threads if you require grading arguments. As I stated, if a coin was BU and a dealer was selling for near Spinks book then why would it not have sold in auction for said same price? Or the other end of the scale, why should a dealer pay 50% for it to be able to push it out at Spink book?
  21. If the coin was already choice why would'nt it have already sold for near Spink? Geez
  22. But did it sell for £1100 as Spink suggests it should? in fact have you seen ANY sell for a Spink quoted price, this was where I jumped in at stating that SPINK BOOK PRICE IS A GUIDE and not what should be used as advice for a bid OR MARKETING TREND
  23. The owner of the forum also writes and publishes the CCGB book. Now, as we all know a dealer will ALWAYS quote a Spink price when selling, so how come he NEVER buys in said same price? If you want to part with silly money for a coin then go right ahead, as I said, same coin in LCs sold 2 years apart same grade at a £60 increase, which in anyones book is a £30 a year increase and nowhere near an £1100 price tag. As for the eBay slabbed coin, well everyone will chance their arm and wait for an idiot to part with their cash, there will always be one. What I would also like to add is, if all these dealers coins are the same grade then why are'nt they all the same price? Lol
  24. this halfpenny is the finest known for the variety, an 82, CGS value £575, See how many You can find selling for that price.
  25. Same graded coin 2 yearly later and a £60 Price difference, still nothing at £1100 01/03/2015 Auction 148Certified CoinsLot 2631Halfcrown 1875 ESC 696 UNC or near so and lustrous with some light flecks of golden toning, slabbed and graded CGS 75 (UIN 14915)
