  1. The only concern i would have is that if NGC failed to notice the possible fake in the first place then you'd lose all trust in their second viewing. I'd be more insistent that someone who genuinely has more experience with British coins and fakes takes a good look at it, but still its a step in the right direction of peace of mind. Keep us up to date with what's happening
  2. according to the PCGS website the certificate number is correct, the coin looks fake for sure, so i'd assume that its a fake holder and they've used the cert number from a genuine coin. The other thing to note is that it would be a 10k coin in that grade, for me its a fake definitely
  3. The single exergue line is quite rare
  4. That's the one I sold Steve and was bought from CC
  5. Vicky who was it that initially raised the concern on the other forum, I thought you mentioned here that it was Mr Hill from Baldwims, if that's the case then he may be interested in helping this along if he had the coin, surely then if someone of his stature in the coin community were to write a note to say it was a fake then Heritage and NGC would have no leg to stand on.
  6. Wreath, where are you based, if London, there are many dealers that might take a look at it, but i think ideally you're going to need confirmation that it is a fake from someone of note, aka Baldwins or Spink etc etc and obviously they can't free it, but i'm sure Heritage would possibly take it back it there was some sort of accompanying letter as to the authenticity issue.
  7. Non, you've probably submitted at the worst point. I sent one last year with the fee of £13.whatever plus postage to be deducted due to what it cost me, Semra deducted the higher fee and when I emailed to ask why I got no response what so ever. If I were you i'd perhaps try and get in contact to make sure that your submissions will be taken at the previous level before the hike.
  8. Trying to find as many link to the referencing of 1934 fake wreaths, the one just below was a discussion on here about them, just click on the name 1934 crown https://www.cointalk.com/threads/beware-fakes-seem-to-be-in-abundance.278357/ how to spot a fake 1934 wreath crown
  9. This might be of use for the 50p collectors http://www.royalmint.com/discover/uk-coins/coin-design-and-specifications/fifty-pence-coin
  10. I'll come back to this but I'd be checking what they might be about to charge you for their service
  11. The unfortunate thing is Alan that PCGS don't know all the errors or variants of the British coinage, that was the reason I sent my F260A, but I definately won't send anything else
  12. So what's the deal with those who were already members Paul? Are they asking everyone for cash or just newbies who thought about joining but won't due to the fee?
  13. Lol, I added the NOOOO THANKS Roberto
  14. Sorry but they have lost the plot completely, £500 for their service, NOOOOO THNAKS
  15. Yes, to Heritage who sold it to you, they'd then contact the consignor
  16. The problem is, if you break it out and it is fake you'd not get a penny back
  17. Ok, reputable for American coins but could they spot a fake 34 wreath in a slab. To be honest i'm not sure they'd give it a 2nd glance if it was slabbed when sold because NGC guarantee authenticity, so Heritage would just describe it. I'm sure someone on here bought a cromwell from there that was suspect, the thread will be kicking around somewhere
  18. Which auction house was it bought from, can you all tell us the UIN
  19. Hi, there, have you firstly checked the UIN number against the grading companys to see if its the same coin? By same coin, i mean the exact same as what you see in the holder, the Chinese are also now faking slabs
  20. I can't get on there from home as it appears that they have some issues with German IPs, funnily enough i have been on with my iPhone with vodafone, so not sure what the issue is there, but can't be arsed scrolling through all that with such a small screen might send this,
  21. I think Semra now thinks that CGS are now getting on par with the big 2 American companies judging by the fee, i can see a big custard pie running down her face, a small increase in submissions won't justify the £99, what will happen if/when submissions drop after the introduction? (custard pie :-) Whoever came up with this business strategy needs to take a reality check.....
  22. Ahhhh but those 4 free grades Rob still makes it cheaper than CGS, they also don't have Semra as their customer care manager, that has to add to the bonuses of non CGS membership
