  1. Vicky who was it that initially raised the concern on the other forum, I thought you mentioned here that it was Mr Hill from Baldwims, if that's the case then he may be interested in helping this along if he had the coin, surely then if someone of his stature in the coin community were to write a note to say it was a fake then Heritage and NGC would have no leg to stand on.
  2. Wreath, where are you based, if London, there are many dealers that might take a look at it, but i think ideally you're going to need confirmation that it is a fake from someone of note, aka Baldwins or Spink etc etc and obviously they can't free it, but i'm sure Heritage would possibly take it back it there was some sort of accompanying letter as to the authenticity issue.
  3. Non, you've probably submitted at the worst point. I sent one last year with the fee of £13.whatever plus postage to be deducted due to what it cost me, Semra deducted the higher fee and when I emailed to ask why I got no response what so ever. If I were you i'd perhaps try and get in contact to make sure that your submissions will be taken at the previous level before the hike.
  4. Trying to find as many link to the referencing of 1934 fake wreaths, the one just below was a discussion on here about them, just click on the name 1934 crown https://www.cointalk.com/threads/beware-fakes-seem-to-be-in-abundance.278357/ how to spot a fake 1934 wreath crown
  5. This might be of use for the 50p collectors http://www.royalmint.com/discover/uk-coins/coin-design-and-specifications/fifty-pence-coin
  6. I'll come back to this but I'd be checking what they might be about to charge you for their service
  7. The unfortunate thing is Alan that PCGS don't know all the errors or variants of the British coinage, that was the reason I sent my F260A, but I definately won't send anything else
  8. So what's the deal with those who were already members Paul? Are they asking everyone for cash or just newbies who thought about joining but won't due to the fee?
  9. Lol, I added the NOOOO THANKS Roberto
  10. Sorry but they have lost the plot completely, £500 for their service, NOOOOO THNAKS
  11. Yes, to Heritage who sold it to you, they'd then contact the consignor
  12. The problem is, if you break it out and it is fake you'd not get a penny back
  13. Ok, reputable for American coins but could they spot a fake 34 wreath in a slab. To be honest i'm not sure they'd give it a 2nd glance if it was slabbed when sold because NGC guarantee authenticity, so Heritage would just describe it. I'm sure someone on here bought a cromwell from there that was suspect, the thread will be kicking around somewhere
  14. Which auction house was it bought from, can you all tell us the UIN
  15. Hi, there, have you firstly checked the UIN number against the grading companys to see if its the same coin? By same coin, i mean the exact same as what you see in the holder, the Chinese are also now faking slabs
  16. I can't get on there from home as it appears that they have some issues with German IPs, funnily enough i have been on with my iPhone with vodafone, so not sure what the issue is there, but can't be arsed scrolling through all that with such a small screen might send this,
  17. I think Semra now thinks that CGS are now getting on par with the big 2 American companies judging by the fee, i can see a big custard pie running down her face, a small increase in submissions won't justify the £99, what will happen if/when submissions drop after the introduction? (custard pie :-) Whoever came up with this business strategy needs to take a reality check.....
  18. Ahhhh but those 4 free grades Rob still makes it cheaper than CGS, they also don't have Semra as their customer care manager, that has to add to the bonuses of non CGS membership
  19. For arguments sake Paul, looking at the very bottom florin, does CGS have any graded at 82 or 85, makes you wonder where they get the 2016 price from in 85
  20. The proof is in the pudding, maybe check the Londoncoins upcoming auction and see if there is any CGS slabs up for sale, see what their estimate is and then check their website for valuation, both should in theory match, then wait until the realised prices come out and see what you get......
  21. So in reality Pete, CGS value your coin at £1.25 because the cost of the slab was £13.75, air, pluck, out, figure, of comes to mind.
  22. I bagged myself a rare 1860 1/2d and sent it to them, checking their valuations before it was graded their highest grade back then was valued at £750, when mine came back as their finest graded the valuations of the same coin dropped across the board, their previous finest known had dropped to around £400, bet the owner was a tad miffed, their value has gone back up now to around £550-£575 I think, it's all meaningless, it'll be worth what someone will pay.
  23. Geezus, asking £30 a submission and taking up to 3 months to get it back is bad enough, now another £99 for membership for the lovely customer service from Serma is just a joke. I think it could be a nail in the coffin right there. Let's see how many submissions they'll lose if they ask the same fee from people who are already members. There is ABSOLUTEY no benefit of paying a yearly subscription, at least with PCGS you get 4 free submission for your $149 membership and a turnaround of about 3 weeks
