  1. There ya go. £30 for a slab, can't be bad. Could probably buy 100 on his own at that price, and he had 6 rejects. Thats some good money by anyones standards
  2. always does make me think about this aspect of it as last time i spent about £450 grading the 30 odd coins and could have spent that on even more coins if not send to be graded. with regards to graded ones, ive never been to coin fairs and the likes but are there stalls where they sell graded coins and also do they seem to do very well?think im still getting over how unpopular graded British coins are I think its how strict CGS is that Put people off, couple that with their recent price increase for a longer turnaround, makes great business sense. You could also try PCGS in Paris. If you Join their Club (Joe public cannot submit unless in their club) it cost around $200-$300 for a year and you can get 8 free submissions with that. 8 submissions to CGS will cost £240 which is $384 from CGS, this does'nt include your return postage, but your coins will be in a much more widely popular slab.Personally i won't go back to CGS unless it was a Major rarity with known fakes
  3. 1919KN Penny for sale here 130992762457
  4. Azda might have some opinions! He's taken it off Perhaps he read our posts. Fear not, Dave, you can still win it here. Predecimal Advisory Service tooooo the rescue! We're happening! I'm guessing there'll be a bottle of wine in the post for us all? A vintage Nuits-Saint-Georges or a nice bottle of Arran single malt will suffice. He could afford something better than that with the amount he's ripped people off with. Aim much higher boys
  5. 0***y with a 2567 Feedback is winning so far. Still would'nt Touch his auctions with a barge pole. He does read our posts Clive, probably once a day, definately once a week
  6. I thought if a coin was rejected and you have obviously paid your money that you'd get it free next submission? Where's Bill Pugsley, he can tell us.
  7. Azda might have some opinions! He's taken it off
  8. Unfortunately i don't see the sense in buying a fake at an inflated price because its been in Mr Xs collection. There are other similar fakes out there which have'nt been in a named collection that could probably be picked up for way less. Why pay for a name and a fake
  9. Geez that was quick
  10. No idea how Long they'll take to get to me, first time i've purchased from DNW for myself The Boss has just found out how much i've just spent. She mentioned divorce, i said i was'nt so lucky
  11. So my 3 lots from DNW were 1105 1116 and 1362
  12. Well thats my invoice paid. Now to sit back and wait for the arrivals
  13. This sale seems to have gone over the top a bit. However, I have been able to buy coins at the previous DNW auction as well as at the last two London Coins auctions at reasonable prices. In fact, one of the lots I bought at this one I think is pretty reasonably priced. Eight coins, but three of them justify the price and two others are keepers. Not great or super rare. But okay. The other lot I really wanted was the 1893 Jubilee head sixpence. I think it went for £2,500. Out of my league right now (I was willing to go to £2,200) but not outrageous given the rarity. It will be interesting to see if these prices represent a trend. Personally, I suspect there is a slight increase in interest as the economy continue to recover. But I also think that this sale might be a bit of an anomaly. Time will tell. A 50 year collection of some High grade coins AMD rarities Coupled with several factors, large denomination silver and advertised since june will bring in the masses. I'm not sure its a trend, its a High end auction that does'nt come around every month.
  14. You can't live off cavier alone, you need to come Down to servants quarters and eat the bread and Butter and Stuart has the correct philosophy. Its a balancing act, i now buy 85% -90% bread and butter and the other percentage is the caviar.
  15. It wouldn't have surprised me if it had gone there so I think you're in the right range. Looks to be a nice coin. I'd be interested in seeing one of your photos when you get it. Plates will be avaliable in due course
  16. I would have went higher Richard, £250 was my limit on it
  17. No, you're OK Dave. Just out of interest for my records, how much was it? It might interest you to know that the curious inner circle bit to the lower bust isn't due to double striking, but the die itself. Compare it with this coin and I think you'll see what I mean: E2_2.jpg £190 plus the juice
  18. What did lot 1371 go for. Had it down for a bid, but went to work and did'nt bother. Its the York shilling For someone who had no intention on buying amything from this sale 875 euros later i did well
  19. I got 3 lots, My favourite is lot 1362 Sorry if you were also bidding tomgoodheart
  20. Yaaaaaaaaay got one And another
  21. It was brutal Rob, it will only get worse as those hopeful buyers who won bugger all will be throwing all their Chips in tomorrow. I wanted to Take a Stab on the William and Mary Scottish 60 shilling, but when i was watching the auctioneer getting outpaced by the pre bidding i knew i stood no chance. Anyone know what that went for?
  22. Reading the article apparently the offer of 42 Million was'nt good because both companies Share prices dipped
  23. Did'nt you have your mid-Life crisis 20 years ago Peter? A soft top in Winter Sounds interesting though
