  1. The Rowley Butters catalogue sold by St James in 2008 of British hammered and milled crowns. A very nice collection indeed and worth a look through http://stjauctions.com/assets/applets/SJA9part1.pdf
  2. I'd agree with Coinery regarding keeping it, you never know, it may encourage your son into collecting Coins, there's worse things he could do.
  3. The 1868? I was debating that one but Decided to leave it. I've sent you another email
  4. Aye. Did you see the other i mentioned in my email last week, its now avaliable
  5. £100 for the lot doesn't seem too bad if you're going to a US coin fair and can off-load a few. But £45 postage!!? Ouch! You may have read that wrong Richard. £100 was just the Start bid, he wanted £1100 BIN
  6. Just as a side note, got an email from Spink basically saying their live bid System was shite and will be moving their live bidding to the saleroom until someone can repair the damage to it. (AMEN!!!!!!)
  7. PM sent Peck regarding your question
  8. Our favourite ebay seller is not Content with making an arse of his own ebay Name, he's moved onto his wifes and is now making the same greedy mistakes as he did before. So, this one sold on the 1st of June http://www.ebay.co.u...1055%26_rdc%3D1 it was a private listing but sold to r**6 with a 2620 Feedback He obviously did'nt like it because it was relisted a few hours later here http://www.ebay.co.u...2605%26_rdc%3D1 again was a private listing but was shilled by bought by his mate anthonys so that's 56 quid just in fees alone, wonder when/where he'll actually sell it at a loss Oh BTW, 1st had 5 bids, the 2nd had 36 bids, obviously step bidding so as not to go to far over the genuine bidders bid, but seemed to have made an arse considering he's buying it himself
  9. Some ripe Stilton before you go to bed, with a Spink as your bedside read. That should do it! Ahhh, that'll be it, I've been drinking a bottle of port every night! Alchy lol. I only have penthouse at the side of my bed and an old sock
  10. His story about getting it in his change at a nightclub and nearly causing a riot got me thinking. When i was a few years younger and into sex, drugs and Rock'n'Roll i was really concerned if i got a 1980 penny or the rare 1981 penny which obviously if it was the really rare 1982 one i'd show all my mates and we'd have a massive riot in the club so we could accertain ownetship of said rarity.
  11. If you keep Buying Job lots of silver you should come Across some decenr graded coins and hopefully 1 or 2 rarities. You should maybe invest in a book incase some of what you have are rare, it has been known to Happen
  12. Hello and welcome, curious question, but why pre 47? Those are .500 Silver content, pre 1920 would be .925 silver content.
  13. Arrgggggghhhhhhhhhhh, some arseholes out there on ebay. This is a belter. Sold a Florin in a PCGS graded holder to some Jap. He's now come back with a Dispute saying "item not as described" and wants 85 quid off the Price. Is he f*****g stupid or what, how can't it be not as described when everything is on the graded holder and i just repeated what was on it. Arsehole is just wanting Money off it, i told him to send it back for a full refund, what a p***k. This shit irks me, and These idiots who think they're going to try and get Money off by saying not as described i just laugh at, i normally tell them i'll do a complete refund as i don't do partials, never hear from them again, but when it's in a graded holder, he's gotta be joking, honestly!!!
  14. Just out of curiosity Stuart, at what Point is Spink better than North for ID ing these coins. Has North left something out that Spink has wrote in their guide?
  15. Its a pity some of your Australian auction houses don't use the same exact science when grading their lots
  16. He always overgrades, generally by 1/2 to 1 full grade, depends on what he's paid for the coin
  17. I think we're all in agreement that the OP pictured coin is definately not AEF, quite why DNW have gave it that grade is beyond me,
  18. Where did this image come from? I will add it to the database or append to an existing entry if I have the image recorded. It's a bit flat, but quite a clean coin if you just want an example. The gold one has been badly tooled, and the attempted piercing(?) doesn't do anything for it either. At least the first gold one would tone down over time. You Need to clear out your PM inbox, its full, so i'll email you instead.
  19. This one is also quite nice, pity ist silver though
  20. I've bought a few times from DNW and never had a Problem with their stuff. However, this time i would if i were to buy that coin, it could be it was consigned by a dealer with his own grade which happens and so this would have nothing to do with DNW and their opinion of the coin. The reason i think that it's not DNW s grade is because of the shilling just underneath it in the auction, same grade as the Halfcrown, but way better than the halfcrown, Shilling Picture attached. Just wondering if they made a mistake when writing it up?
  21. For comparisson, graded as OBV Fine, REV better. So i'd stick with my VF grade of yours
  22. VF for me, to much wear to the face for my liking
