  1. I like em all I sold my Mary Groat because I couldn't live with the grade but regret it now. I like RD's James because of the over date MM and would be happy to have it as a type collector.OK i have James shillings but this is a novelty different type. My current Contract is in Norwich....Booooooo. Actually it is a beautiful City and the locals are friendly and always respond when I say give me six.
  2. Welcome back Richard You don't have to be fanatical collecting coins.Everyone has their own level of requirements/interest. If you haven't already catalogued them this would be the first thing to do.
  3. Noted and stashed - I need to go to Adullams (Stowmarket) for a bigger cupboard ? Adullams in Stow....I don't know it. Good to see you on a "proper" UK forum. I was thinking of taking a cabinet space in the new antique centre in Debenham but I will give it a visit and see what it's like.
  4. Enjoy the day. Back here in Blighty ...Age 65 to retire has been increased to 68 for me.
  5. Nice round coin RD I echo Robs comments on the graffiti. I would be tempted to stash it away for a later date
  6. A 1862 shilling books at £40 in fine. I wouldn't pay book .......plus the ebay coin is below fine and yours is good at best. you might get a £5.00 from a date filler collector but then you have postage and the hassle of ebay.
  7. The only coins worth anything are the pre 1947 silver coins and the 19C shillings. The rest are scrap value only Say you get 20x face for pre 47 silver a florin is worth £2 a sixpence 50p.I would suggest you sell the pair of 19C shillings as an item and the rest of the pre 47 silver as an item with face value noted. Good luck
  8. I call in on a regular basis. Often interesting threads (plus when Mrs Peter watches Eastenders.)
  9. After working at RAF Honington building Hardened Aircraft Shelters and ancillary buildings my portacabin was at the end of the runway so we had constant Tornado's taking off and the smell of aviation fuel filled your nostrils.Later it was Phantoms. I moved over to RAF Lakenheath and it was F15's. I also got a permit to drive onto the runways. We were putting in boreholes and a reservoir and about 7km of large dia water pipework. Again my portacabin used to shake like buggery. When a jet had major maintenance it was tested. Vertical climbing was breath taking.
  10. and you never pushed yourself? We are all superhuman when we are young. I love the Jam's lyrics that life is a drink and you get drunk when you're young. Get him to sort your pooter. Kids you have got to love them.My eldest daughter is gagging at driving my MG and Mrs Peter's coupe...I can smell a nice slow derv car on the horizon...my youngest has got lessons booked for October. My eldest is ready for her test. HELP.
  11. I hope he wasn't climbing on a blonde. My 2 daughters are far more au fait with computer problems than the current companies IT dept I'm freelancing for.
  12. The weight of the coin will prove what it is.
  13. I considered York but I'm now glad I didn't bother.
  14. Brandon That could have a home at Peter Towers. It would tick the box on half cents.
  15. I did have my Ltd company for 4 years on flat rate VAT. My accountant was superb and gave me great back up.(james smith)...cracking bloke. I've got all my spreadsheets (via my accountant). VAT basically paid his fees.(flat rate) The company I will be freelancing for have said they would prefer permanent. I'm not chasing the £ so much now and maybe a nice car /pension/health insurance will see me through. A company (unnamed) who I recently worked for (2 years) have gone into admin. I had to chase my fees for the latter 6 months...maybe perm is the way forward again.
  16. Richard we are not talking about your penis.
  17. No you haven't
  18. What is the weight?
  19. Looks like I will be going Umbrella on my next project (I wound up my Ltd company at the pleading of my accountant...IR35) The Government seem intense on stopping people making a good living WITHIN THE LAW to pay Jeremy Kyle stars. My last 3 years of trading I had paid nearly £40k corporation tax. Rob is right in claiming 45p mile to post items.Within the law. I went to work for a contractor who recently let employees have car allowance rather than a company car. They weren't aware of the tax benefits they could claim the difference between the 11p(contractor was paying) and 45p entitled to. The 40% tax bracket payers were very pleased with me.
  20. Some nice coins. Pity they are slabbed with inflated prices. The Yanks can keep them.
  21. Minimum reserve is £50 (or it was at one time) I can't see them being worth any premium.
  22. I love DNW online auctions. I log on when the lots I want to watch...consider....or generally interested in.
  23. Stuart Try Michael Trenerry based in Cornwall He doesn't have a web site but produces quality coins at good prices. A decent brochure/list is available if you contact him by phone or Email. I've bought several coins from him.
  24. You must know what you are buying. Get some books, look at Wildwinds.com Fingers will be burnt.
