Many never make it out of there plush boxes whereas 3ds circulated heavily. My collection is nice back to 1900 then it became quite difficult getting Vickies in good condition.
Sometimes you get adjustment marks when the mint has used too much silver.I like history like this. The big chunky French coins 17/18 C springs to mind often scratched to remove surplus silver. The guy/gal who thought up the banknote did a fine job.Not many of those clipped. About **** years ago I did find half a fiver...my dad took it and gave me £2 10/- We feasted on Woodpecker Cider for weeks. It also reminds me of a local pub when the landlady would serve the oldest lad with 10 pints we must of been early teens. Jumpers for goal posts etc
Reading some posts on this forum while chewing on your dinner can prove to be a choking hazard You can always rely on Peter for a bit of off-topic entertainment! I think he should be a panellist on that brand new TV series 'Shock Factor'! The real scary thing is that through Peter's eyes, it's not off-topic at all... I'm a snickers man (marathon) Mrs Peter enjoys a nut in every bite
Great stuff Rob and Rickardo. I get my targets and hit them hard Currently I have a big bag of Mitchell reels to load up with line/braid,500+ coins to sell and about 100+coins to register. Just ordered a 16lb capon.....bloody big chicken for Xmas.It is now a Peter day and Mr Whiskey has just knocked on the door. Mrs Peter isn't due back until 6pm....Oh dear.
Scott I have Montagu,. I believe it is now online on google books.(FOC) Bramha,Batty and Montagu were condensed by Peck's work. (Pecks 2nd edition in 1970) I know Colin Cooke was working on a new farthing publication before his untimely death. Colin Goode (aboutfarthings)is working on a farthing publication but Peck's work is still the bible and most complete work on all cu denominations.
There was a shortage of circulating currency so traders minted their own tokens. At the same time the majority of copper coins were counterfeit.Especially in Scotland.
Most generous Garrett. A true thoughtful gent. One tip to preserve you coin books is a trip to Wickes where they use a heavy gauge polythene bags/sacks for their sand etc. Perfect for covering your books.
Maybe a bit of Salmon fishing required give me a PM and I can tell you I almost shot the gillie on the Tay. My mate had the lease on Taymouth Castle...I shagged a pretty thing from Kenmore the (younger daughter and my mate got a dose.....oh how I laughed) Early 80's
Well said Bob That is why you must always buy the coin and not the slab. A great reason for me to always buy raw and ignore TPG's and their fantasies. If you can see a cracking coin through the slab Great.
