  1. Is that the real BloJob or the fake lookalike??
  2. Damn right. He's an honest dealer who works for his customers. Bad news.
  3. I wouldn't worry too much about 1950 / 1953. They weren't issued in sealed cases, but I'd still be very very careful about their storage and handling. Capsules might be best. I personally wouldn't split sealed cases like 1970.
  4. "So until Sue Gray has interviewed me I shan't be able to answer the philosophical question 'Have you been interviewed by Sue Gray?'. So, no." Classic.
  5. House? Luxury. We had to fight our dad for one corner of a cardboard box before we went to work 25 hours a day draining the lake using sieves. Try telling that to young people nowadays and they just don't believe you.
  6. Ah, "No vac" Djokovic
  7. Agreed. It's only the grade assigned to the obverse I have issues with. But it is problem-free and if you like it that's the main thing.
  8. The reverse is much better - definitely not far off VF
  9. This one is at least (genuine) VF: https://www.dnw.co.uk/auction-archive/lot-archive/lot.php?lot_uid=366284 and it sold for £400, which seems right!
  10. I think that was just sloppiness on DNW's part - note that it sold for much less than estimate. Also, I think the grades listed in the Spink Standard Catalogue are 'old school', especially when you compare the values listed with average sale prices or with other price guides.
  11. Yes - it was in a Warwick lot along with a Charles II and an Anne crown (both F or F+).
  12. It's mentioned in that fascinating BNJ article on early bun pennies we were linked to recently. There are mentions of the work he did at home (he had the equipment apparently) and then took into the RM . Though this is only a small bit of the diary which apparently is mostly domestic.
  13. Different monarch but still early milled - this is VF:
  14. There again, the blue '1st decimal' wallet sold for... ?6/-? (30p). They now struggle to make £1 !
  15. Yes - the only 1950s penny I found as a schoolboy was a VF 1953. It could only have come from a plastic set. Having said that, over a million were issued so there must still be quite large number around. The real mystery is why they were valued so highly in the late 60s. Mind you, that was also true of all 1953 issues back then - yes, I know it was a one-year obverse, but it was also the first year of the reign so many were put aside and survived in UNC.
  16. About the same as they sold for in 1969!
  17. You mean double in price?
  18. He's not too impressed with you, I understand
  19. LMAO. Who in their right minds would want to upgrade that?!!!!
  20. Prototype model of Concorde. But the stone proved too heavy to take off.
  21. It would have to be a black market? Those things are illegal!
  22. I'd certainly take a chance on it for £80 - it's a very nice coin!
  23. There were hundreds of 000s of £1 forgeries around before they changed the design. I found a few but didn't bother to keep them.
  24. For me, that 1859 is a clear proof, even from just photos. The design and legends are unusually crisp and detailed, and there's something about the rim too. And the colour - though not proving anything - is distinctive. But I agree with you about some other coins, especially VIP proofs of the 20th Century. Some of the just look to me like currency strkes.
  25. Someone numerically dyslexic thought they'd got a 1933 for a bargain price?
