  1. Do you use lights or natural light for photography? I'm having an absolute mare trying to image the churchill crowns to get a picture that shows what I can see in the hand, and so far artifical light really isn't doing it. Given the recent snow, as I was housebound I tried again, but had so much white natural light that it still didn't give a true impression. The quest continues...
  2. @Nonmortuus from your collection link, your 1897 Half Crown is gorgeous!
  3. I sold off 9 or 10 spare wrestling ones, but if I come across another I'll know who needs it
  4. I think I'l try getting a set the hard way, I managed all the olympics although I paid for a couple of "better" ones.
  5. They'll learn one day, and some may even start enjoying the hunt. The rest will find a new fad soon enough.
  6. Goes to show there are a new generation of coinies, all they need isintroducing to the delights of a wider variety of options
  7. Given the 20k+ queue of peeps looking at the site today, I'm not expecting any major value to be attributable to them. Of course 90 million will turn up on fleabay listed as "Rare"...
  8. It would seem everyone and their dog are trying to look at the RM this morning (well, everyone who is bored of the weather anyway!) ... Slow loading has given me time to eat my cornflakes and we're only up to picture "C" - Congrats on 10k posts, you've gone somewhat more grey now.
  9. What's the reverse of that halfcrown like anyway ?
  10. I was thinking lead too, it has the white crunchy look to it, like fairly recent lead which has been in a wet environment for a while.
  11. One is lit from below, the other from above. Same coin IMHO.
  12. *including variants.
  13. It is quite suprising sometimes just what does get delivered. Yours must have taken some doing to get the decent-ish looking Left image. Mine looked like it might be OK and actually turned up being better than expected. I hope my run continues, 4 ish more silvers to get, and then I just need some bronze improvers and the gold to complete the "everything from 1887 pile". I know that this will probably never get finished after seeing the 5 Pounds earlier!
  14. Don't forget the Mint Your Own 2018 Isaac and the 2 Paddington Bears as well
  15. 1887 continues with the somewhat harshly treated 1+A Shilling ( I love the way it photographs though!)
  16. And for good measure .. is that even die 98 or 38 or something else.
  17. Edit - it's bloody costly though
  18. I'm going to say no, I can't see an overdate, the die looked like it was a bit roiugh around the edges. Allcoinvalues has an 1872 which looks equally poorly formed. another die 98 shilling doesn't seem so bad. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GREAT-BRITAIN-Victoria-1872-AR-Shilling-PCGS-MS66-KM-734-2-S3906A-Die-98/182782553503?hash=item2a8eb06d9f:g:V4AAAOSwYkBZxTeD
  19. The last R of BritanniaR might be worth a closer look too..
  20. Just when you think it's safe ... Why not ask for some coins up front or an "administration fee" so that you can "release the funds" to his account. Say ooh, about a grand. No harm in trying to scam the scammers, I say!
  21. Thats just my crap webcam I really should do some better pictures, too many sitting in boxes without a decent photo to their name, but then .. too much to do and not enough time to enjoy a pastime.
  22. I didn't know there was an R/E for 1887?
  23. In a similar vein though I picked up this VictoR/Bia last week. Apologies for the crap photos, its time to go for a beer so no full camera pics until later
