  1. The 40mm ones fit nicely into the large trays in the Lidl coin boxes. I just bought a 16mm punch to add a new hole for my sixpences, as the ones with "british coin" inserts don't go that small.
  2. It looked really quite lovely (I still think it does), but up close and personal it has some interesting features.
  3. Thank you Coinery It doesn't mean a vast amount (at the moment) but will probably give me hours of fun in the futire when I try to understand these hammered blighters.
  4. A slight diversion - could anyone actually ID my previously refferred to, beat up little farthing for me please? It'd be much appreciated, as far as I could get was Eddie. Farthing. Small (~10ish mm, its a 15mm flip)
  5. Yes, I need to stop buying silver... but then some pennies are more expensive. I still don't understand Pounds Shillings and Pence, but it is awfully pretty
  6. Thats not very sporting, at least these people have reasonably priced BIN's on all their novelties.
  7. That really is a great looking example too. Wish mine looked that nice, Its a shame you didn't get this one!
  8. He can buy all of mine at half of that price !
  9. Thanks Vicky, I hope to spend some considerable time accumulating much more of your namesake before I get to the later Georges - obviously if I can bag anything decent at sill money along the way, I'll not be rude enough to refuse. If I could go back in time to when I started, I'd probably tell myself to aim for a monarch with far less cost and variety involved
  10. Well, the sports results would be correct
  11. Thank you again, Rob. You;ve raised some very objective points and I'll certainly take them into consideration when I get an updated version. My (inherited) copy is more than 1 revision out, and I wasn't sure if there was anything else which could be considered a "better" guide.
  12. Thanks Rob, my ESC is overdue for an update. Davies will hopefully be joining me for a turkey sandwhich and a quiet couple of hours on the 25th
  13. As per the title, which books are the most accurate/useful for Victorian silver coin errors please. Christmas is coming and "santa" needs some extra ideas, so more additions to the library are highly probable Additionally are there any specific online resources for Vicky silver which I may not have stumbled upon, but which are a gold mine of silver info? Thanks!
  14. That annoys me to the point of frustration. "selling on Ebay" is not the same as "has sold" and the former really should include "and is listed by a complete numbnuts" I feel I need to list some old "error" copies of newspapers - the ones where they actually contained "facts" and did not deliberately mislead the reader.
  15. I'm just trying a new camera for when the images aren't required to be exceptional - ebay 50p's and forum posts where quick and dirty will do. I wanted something plugged in to the pc, which can sit connected unobtrusively for quickie shots, rather than having to break out the DSLR every time. This is a £23 webcam, and windows 10's inbuilt image software to crop the spare, I would be interested to know your thoughts. The first coin for your perusal then gentlemen.
  16. I bet all it really says in the small print is "We guarantee that This certificate is 100% authentic, and any goods that accompany it may or may not be".
  17. Just sold my 2009 for 8 quid. 2017 is sitting in front of me, that'll do until 2025
  18. For A and B I'd start them at 99p, they'll make the same money anyway, but it'll save you listing fees As for the gold, it never goes cheap, you could do a search for the specific coin types and on the left select "sold listings" to see what prices have been realised recently. If you put the "other" coinage into groups on ebay, I imagine that would get a reasonable return too, without the need for lots of indiviaual posting.
  19. What a great selection. I can only agree with Stuntman, thanks for sharing and I hope you do well from them.
  20. I love how people have suddenly started going through their lofts *really thoroughly*. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to find the Titanic in mine, let alone a solitary gold coin!
  21. Well, it looks like it should be gold - a 5 Pounds.
  22. it was in search results, I didn't willingly search for "sh1t coins on ebay"
  23. Thanks for the kind offer Rob, but "none" is preferable
