  2. I think the 1860 may be an F763 with the pattern obverse. Well done. Jerry

  5. I mentioned picking up a decent Half Crown - 1927 proof version - in a bunch of Whitman folders this week. I also got a full range of other folders in the series - mostly full, much in low grade - but a few pleasant surprises like these (one per post): 1860 Beaded border - I believe dies 1 and B so F6 but please correct me if I am wrong.

  12. Using the top left quarter as TAS, then the opposing one must be RAM for DER(R)AM, because Bristol, Canterbury or London wouldn't work, and I think you can eliminate RACI because the last bit of the preceding quarter isn't an O, leaving Durham by default. With nothing in the centre of the reverse, I would think it's probably S2114, struck under Laurence Booth. A bit more detail would help!

  13. I don't understand this thread now it's developed. I have some rather nice Swedish and Finnish glassware. I have some nice paintings. I have some nice small sculpture pieces. I have them all because they appealed to me, and continue to do so. They also have an accruing monetary value, which is nice to know for emergencies. I do not feel the need to pay for someone's opinion of them, and put them in plastic cases.

  14. What on earth is the point of that? You've then got a slabbed coin carrying a garish "don't buy me" insert.
