Well, it was in the background, and this was when ebay's pictures were lower resolution, and it was a pile of high grade, so the other bidder wasn't as determined/convinced as me. I paced up and down for several days until it arrived. I don't think I've ever opened a package faster.....2 points

Now withdrawn Someone trying to prevent the sale! Actually, both his coins are unique - there's no other quite like them.2 points

Your getting very brave typing on your keyboard and using a vile word like that. You are extremely lucky on this occasion that you did not say that to my face as i would of knocked you farther back than John the baptist. I suggest you sort your head out as your a disgrace to yourself and obviously some form of low life scum.2 points

The MGTF, and its MGF predecessor, have always been mid-engined. The engine is in the middle, behind the driver but ahead of the rear axle. It isn't front-engined like most (all?) other MGs. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/mg-motor/tf-2002-20051 point

Thanks Mike- it was, up till then, the most I had ever spent on some pennies, and I worried for days that I was wrong and going to be sleeping in the shed......1 point

I love the toning on the 1898, and I'm not posh about digs too much so if it ever needs a new home... The 1877 seems like a "normal" example - I imagine it could look nicer with less harsh lighting (or in the hand). The George.. what do I know about George?1 point

Not quite sure what you are expecting to hear! All three coins seem pretty good and whether they were good value will depend on how much you paid! The 1911 suffers from the familiar problem with threepences of more wear on the bust than anywhere else. Might benefit from a little soap and water. The 1898 is better but does have digs in the fields on either side. The 1877, as well as more wear on the bust, has been rubbed with something abrasive to give a mass of fine hairline scratches. I would be happy with any of them, depending on the price, unless maybe I was expecting them to be Maundy? I am not good at distinguishing Maundy from not but to me only the 1898 looks possible.1 point

Mystery solved. The square icon HAS gone as part of the new layout, but there's a new set of drop down menus one of which is "Products"; in there is OneDrive. But you know what they say in software - "If it ain't broke, we'll fix it".1 point

Here're a few of my recent finds- all dirt cheap, and more pacing up and down. I don't have pics to hand of my 1862 halfpenny in Fine- I bought a tin of halfpennies and farthings, under two quid, and had to hand that coin to my wife, with palsied hand, to tell me what she could see through the magnifying glass next to the lighthouse---"Oh, it's a little 'B' " she said, thus confirming that I wasn't seeing things...... That paid for a chunk of our holiday..... First up, 1870 dot. Left loads on it, no-one saw it properly, £20 ish.1 point

I am glad you have some big mates as i can use them for a warm up. You can have a go at me as much as you want, but not any need for that language. Also remember us northeners are not bothered how big someone is very few stay standing when they are done with a claw. Behave yourself. Pete.1 point

Given to me as a schoolboy in 1968 - in change, from a bus conductor! I'd only just started collecting, and I didn't have any 1926. It was many months before I realised (oh happy day) that it was an ME. Blakey - one very similar to yours (but with an attractive green patina) went for over £300 at Warwick & Warwick, back in 2001.1 point

I think they are all fake, but have little sympathy for the purchasers who shouldn’t be buying if they don’t know the subject well enough to be aware that most on EBay are replicas. They obviously have so much money that they can throw it away for lack of basic research. I would never buy a siege coin, Gothic Crown, Wreath Crown and several others unless from a known reputable dealer like Rob P. Jerry1 point

Ah yes- as I thought....just because you are a close auction loser doesn't mean you ever had a chance- you don't know what the winner left as their bid....good job I wasn't tempted more- all I would have done is cost you money Jerry!!!1 point

At last, I can retire. I have wheelbarrow loads of this excrement a few but select pieces for the discerning collector.1 point

because most of them are not exactly honest to the description. LCA and other coin auctions will tell you if the coin has faults. Ebay they either omit the flaws or doctor the pictures to make the coins more appealing. I don't think I have had more than 5 exactly what was described. Plus LCA is third party whereas ebay the sellers actually own the stuff they sell. I know LCA do sell their coins but other auction houses are merely middlemen.1 point

id say it can get an easy MS63 if your going down that route, possibly enough lustre to give it a RB designation too.1 point

Plenty people saw it i am aware of ,infact me and another forum member discussed what it would sell for as soon as it was listed and before a bid was made. The day after a couple of people had picked up on it probably because it was showing at around £150 . If you have one or dont want one better to let someone else have it Unless its a BIN thats cheap of which i would buy them straight away1 point

I bought a fake gold coin thinking it was real because it was slabbed... turned out to be the right weight if you included the weight of the slab as well.... I thought it might be a copy but was at least hoping for a 9c gold copy - it was clearly brass when I got it. My fault for being greedy I think - it was a few years back - it was an extremely 5 sovereign at a half soveriegn price on a 1 day auction... If it had been real it would have been thousands. Lost 120 sobs there. :-( I guess I should have reported it but it was years ago. :-(1 point
