Accumulator Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 A copy of this sold on eBay today. I missed out yet again, by bidding too low then not being around at the auction end. If anyone has a spare copy for sale, let me know? Quote

1949threepence Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Just managed to get one for £75 (best offer on e bay). Been trying to get one for several years, on and off. After I'd stumbled across mine, quite by chance as it happened, I did some extensive googling (out of curiosity) and discovered that there are 4 more specimens going:- From Amazon:- £343.90 - USA £346.71 - UK From other sources:- £99.99 - Abe Books (UK) (ex library) $295.00 - USA Given that they're obviously in demand, this might be an additional opportunity for someone else, if they haven't got one. Clearly very expensive, although the ABE books one seems a decent enough offer. Quote
alfnail Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Hi Mike, Wish I had known you wanted one. I have a spare copy in better condition than the one which was on ebay which I could have let you have for not much more. Looking for £100 inc. postage for mine, but would have done for a little less for you 1 Quote
mrbadexample Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 I can't remember what I paid for mine. How much was it Pete? 1 Quote

1949threepence Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Bramah certainly was an interesting and unusual character, in the best possible senses of those words. Rare too, in that he wrote both fiction and non fiction. Not a combination you find very often in a writer. The literary equivalent of ambidexterity. I must catch up on Kai Lung and Max Carrados at some point........ Quote
1949threepence Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Quite by chance when searching for something else, I've found some old articles relating to Bramah, which some may find of interest. Listener Article part 1 Listener Article part 2 Obituary (from 1942) 1 Quote
Peckris 2 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Wow. I never knew he'd been a writer of Chinese fiction, for which he was apparently better known. 1 Quote
