But that one has very definite wear on the hair that crosses the laurel wreath immediately behind the ear. Not UNC, definitely not. Quote

He generally ups ALL grades by at least 1 full grade if he can get away with it. He also uses acetone quite frequently on copper. He's recently changed his ebay name from *country*cottage*interiors* which is actually his wifes ebay id, his was *classic*british*coins* Quote

copper123 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 yes martin stopped miss grading coins a while ago - but looks like he has started with the overgradeing again - not that he is the only one to do it Quote
azda Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 yes martin stopped miss grading coins a while ago - but looks like he has started with the overgradeing again - not that he is the only one to do itReally? He stopped mis-grading? That must have been when he stopped selling on his own ebay account then for several weeks before starting again on his wifes ebay account. I also notice he's changed his own ebay name Quote
copper123 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 yes he did he stopped describing everything he had on sale as ef or unc and just said things like "lovely grade" or other meaningless statements. - in the end even he got bored with his own overgradeing. Quote

HistoricCoinage Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 That can't be genuine, surely?I'd need to see it in the hand, or at least images of the edge, to convince me that it isn't genuine. Quote

Coinery Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Historyincoins is a reputable dealer as I recall, so I'd be surprised if it's a dud. Andrew Howitt I believe. Or have I got the wrong dealer?Yes, Andrew, I've bought from him before! We see duds in NGC slabs and major Auctions, being a reputable dealer is no security in my limited experience! I'm not making any statement at all about authenticity, just that I have never seen the like of it before! Quote
HistoricCoinage Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 That can't be genuine, surely?I'm not making any statement at all about authenticity, just that I have never seen the like of it before!I'm confused. When you say the like, do you mean the coinage/type or the appearance of the coin giving a certain impression? Quote
