I had a couple of bids on items today .Entered through easybid . Have no idea whether they have won or lost . Is there anywhere that shows what lots have went for ?

The only piece of that that looks even slightly identifiable is what looks like 2 pellets next to a shadow of someone , which would make it a half groat .

Ebay died a death (for buyers anyway) when they started free listings .Now it is so bloated with worthless crap and common modern coins ,that it is just a pain to use .My collecting started nearly 20 years ago and 95% of my purchases in the first 5-10 years were from there .I am lucky to buy 1 a month from there now .If they started charging for listings and refunded the charge from the sales fees ,it would go a long way to stopping the crap getting listed . The amount of fakes is another story , but with less listings it would be easier to police .Unfortunately ,they don't seem to want to be a serious platform for coin sales .

The listing pictures do make the coin more appealing than your photos .

I have been using them for nearly 10 years and I have not noticed anything untoward (toning wise) with them .I store them standing edgeways in cases with sachets of silica in them .

Did you soak it in the verdi-care , and if you did ,how long .I have had noticeable results with it , but nothing great . I normally clean with acetone ,rinse and dab with verdicare .I have been worried about leaving it for any more than a few minutes .

How much were they originally from the Mint ?

Just got some acetone in and had ordered some verdi-care . Decided , because of the postage costs to get the bigger bottle (an extra fiver) .Didn't realise that the cost of the bigger bottle took me over the import threshold for tax . Now I have a bill for £13. 55 to pay before I can pick it up .£8 in costs for the Royal Mail , bloody highway robbers.All because I was trying to save a few quid.

Normally I am reaching for a book to work out the obverses ,but out of all the TB obverses ,6 is probably the easiest to recognise (even in washers) with the B almost touching viccys head .

I have an old catalogue from 1938 ,with prices for all the wreath crowns . All are only available in FDC , apart from the 1928 which is available in VF, EF and FDC. Which may point towards some of the 1928 being released for circulation . Only 30 bob for a 1933 ,the rest are between 14 and 16 shillings each .

pretty poor condition ,but got them so I could practice trying to Id them .I only havea copy of spink , so I have what I think is an Edward 1st London mint 9a , an Edward III york mint penny (spink 1556), Edward III london mint (spink 1583) and another Edward III London mint penny . How did I do ,am I close ?

I forgot that the Wreath crowns carried on till 1936 .Doesn;t sound as special now .

It was just a thought .Didn't know whether they where in business for a long time ,or were taken over by someone else . Still interesting to know that you could pick up a 1932 crown in FDC for 30 shillings .Some things for sale that I didn't even know existed , like a 1936 Edward VIII crown with George V head on it for £1/15/-

I have had a few bargains myself , but I tend to do it to try and pick up any penny variations I dont have .Still waiting on my Gouby x for less than a tenner lol. As with most of my collecting , if I am patient ,I will get it eventually at the right price .

I picked up a couple of old dealers price lists in a book shop recently . one is from Seaby's ,but the other is from Jacobs' numismatic store in Brondesbury road, london . The dealer is Charles E Jacobs , does anybody know what became of them .The price list is from 1938 , so I don't even know if they outlasted the war .

I do something the same, except I check "auction, ending soonest", after removing 50p, 20p, £1, £2 ,pound ,pence, beatrix ,£5 etc. It takes it down to about 18,000. I then check " buy it nows" from the newly listed direction .The way I look at it , after being listed "buy it now" ,after 24 hours ,anything thats worth buying or is a bargain is already sold .

I have seen coins kept in a modern oak display case that have had black blotches and unattractive toning after a few months (was on a FB page I am on ,and the were modern decimals ,so there was no harm done lol). It was probably the fact that it was new , modern wood is kiln dried and not seasoned properly .The tannins also leach out through time , so an antique case will probably have been made safe a long time ago .

I prefer a vintage Cider , something with a bit of bite . Currently in Northumberland for a week , so I will need to stock up before I head up the road . The minimum pricing laws in Scotland has made the better ciders a lot more expensive .

I am partial to a wee (large) Talisker . In fact , any peaty malt will do .

looking at his other items , quite a few seem to be very clean and shiny .
