  1. I have magnified it ,still dont see anything but a damaged 6 that resembles a 5 .I don't see the normal 5 shape in it , but it has all the characteristics of a 6
  2. I don't see it ,I see a damaged 6 .
  3. I was bored after listing the first of 4000 notgeld on ebay. Was surprised to find it , and more surprised by what it sold for .
  4. Dont know if you saw /or bought this .https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jamaica-2002-Proof-8-Coin-Set-1c-Silver-25-Dollars-Women-039-s-Hurdles-500-issued-/391949805523?hash=item5b420767d3%3Ag%3A82UAAOSwFSxaPif5&nma=true&si=HzbUnNJvllh6fzDe9ENxSPogZgc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 they do exist .and a bit pricey at that .
  5. They are not an indicator of forgeries. They are called annulets .common on lots of hammered coins .I am sure they are there for a reason ,and I am sure one of the hammered experts will tell us both why lol.
  6. A good grade ,but not uncirculated .Looks cleaned to me , but it may just be the quality of the photo.
  7. When it comes to the mark up on a coin ,it is the dealers coin and he can ask whatever price he wants for it (If someone is happy to pay over the odds, thats up to them).over generous grading and wrongly attributing of varieties etc is different That's false advertising (lying). If they can't grade the coin fairly or can't attribute it correctly , then they shouldn't .
  8. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1868-Young-Head-Victoria-1868-Half-Penny-silver-looking/173115181165?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 Just sold on ebay ,obviously nowhere near the quality of the one above .I nearly took a punt on it ,but wasn,t sure of its value or whether it was a cuni proof (impaired)
  9. In 15 years of collecting ,I have never been overcharged for any coin or note that I have bought (many thousands) .I have overpaid plenty of times though.
  10. Havn't had any dealings with catawiki ,so I had a look at some of there auctions .The straits settlement dollar that states that it is 100% genuine ,but is only 20 grams and poorly cast, doesn't fill me with any confidence they have any expertise ,if they cant weed that out .
  11. I think the Royal Mint would have a better idea about it , if it has come out the mint like that ,it would definitely be of interest to the decimal collectors.
  12. a pr65 sold on ebay for £89 2 weeks ago .A £2750 mark up is a bit cheeky .
  13. It looks like the right coin for the slab ,but its not a vip proof .Its just a normal proof as far as I can see . the seller is saying its one of 6 minted and possibly the finest known , but pcgs say its 9th out of 26 slabbed by them . The seller should / would know this . either the buyer has received a fake coin and slab ,or his issue is it is not as described .
  14. you will need to post a pic on here . I cant see anybody clicking on an external link from a new member .
  15. mines is a 2005 too , still seems a bit steep lol.
  16. They look ok to me ,but I dont have any high grade Geo III to compare them to. If fake ,they would catch me out ,but if I was spending a couple of hundred on a coin, I would have done my homework 1st .
  17. A cud is a small blob of metal which shouldnt be there (quite common on modern 20p's) A serif is a stroke or line added to the end of a letter or number .ie on an 1864 penny the horizontal bar ends with a serif (line rising upwards ) or a vertical bar or serifs (cross crosslet type ) . the red marks are serifs
  18. be careful when buying Henry VIII hammered ,there is lots of fake/ reproductions out there .If like me ,you have a basic knowledge ,most of them are easy to spot , but if you are a complete novice ,then you can be easily caught out . If you see anything on ebay ,dealers website etc .that takes your fancy , stick a pic up of it on here (before you buy )and one of the more knowledgeable members will keep you right .
  19. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/King-Henry-VIII-Coin-1509-47-Silver-Groat-Rare/222687327181?hash=item33d932f3cd:g:t74AAOSwD8ZZ631b .another from the WRL mint , a snip at £197 lol
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hammered-Silver-Coin-Elizabeth-1st-Shilling-c-1582-AD/372146690705?hash=item56a5abda91:g:S7UAAOSwl2haGDKO The shillings are readily available .the listing I have posted is just a sample of the type of coin , you could probably get better for cheaper or an even better one within your budget .
  21. Elizabeth 1st shillings can be had in good grade within your budget , and are a decent size .
  22. why the hell would Jersey need 6 million 20p,s .LOL
  23. Missed out the last time ,so decided its too good an offer to miss out on this time .
  24. Thats some more of these surfaced (on the FB page ) wonder if its the same seller ,quite a coincedence that another lot have appeared .And if it is the same seller ,how many does he actually have ?
  25. It is blue crown boxes (not full proof set boxes ) I have been talking about . will need to go on the hunt and see if I can track down a pic of one .
