  1. The thing is it will fool people as it is an unknown really only those few manufacturers by request were given these to test machine mechanisms like vending machines and arcade machines anything that took a pound coin. I would need to see the real one to digest the info. Side by side there shouldn't be an issue but fakebay will be chucking these around like confetti sadly
  2. Thing is the Aussies are a funny bunch and they love their slabs even more so than the USA. They trust nobody and rely solely on TPG to confirm or deny if a coin is exactly what it says on the tin. For a coin that on the book on NGC $500 @ XF-40 which that probably is and Renniks quotes $1350 AUS for EF and even given a details frade if cleaned is still going to be worth the time and money invested to get it slabbed. Lesser know coins I agree but when it comes to what can be £100+ per 1/2 grade I wouldn't want to be haggling who's grade opinion is more accurate yours or the buyer.
  3. Must of been struck from the famous Poppadom Dies
  4. OMG I almost melted through screen to grab hold of that beauty lol
  5. Can you direct me as to which end the foot is please lols . The more I am looking at it the more I am talking myself out of it being F14
  6. I used my powers of deduction rev D curves up at the left hand edge so Its not reverse D. That leaves us with Reverse E as there are no ther reverses used for that year other than the beaded reverses So then it is a case of ID of obverse . Now unless I discovered a new die pairing only Obv 3 was used with rev E . So that is sherlock holmes theory of Identification or deduction as it were
  7. Yes prob a portrait of the local gypo Love the explanation of how it became larger by being pulled on. Must get a patent for stretchy Bronze lols
  8. Morning guys and gals. thought I would just ask if I got this right. Poor penny I know which makes ID very difficult. But I believe this is Freeman F14 Obverse 3 reverse E. Am I correct? Thanking you kindly
  9. Doesn't have such a detraction phrasing it that way. I am sure if he had used the word replica the bids would be much less . Plus he never actually states it not being genuine only that it's cheaper than the £1000 . Which could infer it's not in the same condition. They know how to word around everything these scammers. Pure scum. I'd shoot the lot if it was legal to do so lol
  10. As with nearly all the coins I have sold for a decent return they were all in lots originally purchased for something else and a lot less valuable. Whilst it is true to some degree most mixed lots have been trawled though but many hands and filtered down to basic scap coins . Not everyone has knowledge of everything . Most collectors are niche collectors so zone in on that area and along with know varieties of famous coin types. So most of the mixed lots are for the most part excluded esp the more diverse countries where the native language is alien to the collector or a minefield even to find the correct dates or even country sometimes. As I am not a niche collector or a collector I am the in betweener that will look just a little longer or research areas that are less common and weed out the coin that should be in a worthy collection and not rotting away in a rusty tin for eternity. Most of the time it is a fruitless persuit but every now and then something will pop up and will be worth all the searches that came before it. "Thar's treasure in them thar hills" (or mixed lots)
  11. Forgot I had this lying around I wasn't aware it was a rare coin. well if I done my homework correctly. British India Bengal Presidency 1795 Copper pice. NGC list 4 types all rare. With mint state @ $2200. Whoda thunk eh
  12. I want my 1864 Half Penny dot not just mentioned I want it in a museum lols (ok that's my new year wish)
  13. I cannot believe they let that go through even describing the kings likeness lmfao. That trust-pilot rating is soon to plummet mark my words.
  14. A dot is a dot in fact logically thinking this would be a rarer type if the dot is situated elsewhere to the listed version. After all I am sure all variety types started with a known variant before others were discovered I don't see why this should be treated any different . If the 1897 One dot penny was deemed a worthy entry to the reference books then no reason for this coin to be treated any different?
  15. I thought seeing as I still have the pictures from some of my Non English Coinage I thought I would share some of the weird and wonderful coins from other countries. I have far too many lol. Hope you Like them
  16. Anything taken your fancy? As if I couldn't guess lol
  17. It made me smile. Red BU what a gem
  18. Typical I got zilch. Last time I sell on that craphole lol I was going to get this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1940-Lincoln-Wheat-Penny-Cent-BU-Uncirculated-RED-LUSTER/122682846893
  19. If you were to use the over critical method that CGS uses to grade coins all those grades in the Rotograph books are 2 1/2 grades too high. CGS have an extremely narrow narrative when grading . I see plenty of coins that should have higher grades than they are awarded and also some that beggar's belief that they were graded so high. And because they have a vested interest in the outcome of any graded coin because they actively buy/grade/sell I take their grading with a pinch of salt now. I did read that one of our auction houses have been classified as agents for NGC I posted on a thread somewhere on here
  20. If it's anything like my coins in photographs its probably 10x better in the hand than from top down photo with all the light on 1 side. reverse although a little off focus looks lustered obverse has all the detail of an EF . Just a little bright for my taste but we know pictures are very deceptive. I could show you a coin and you would all prob say VF. But if you saw it in the hand you would know it's UNC. 3D object with 2D image are mostly unflattering IMO for what it's worth
