I want my 1864 Half Penny dot not just mentioned I want it in a museum lols (ok that's my new year wish)
-
I cannot believe they let that go through even describing the kings likeness lmfao. That trust-pilot rating is soon to plummet mark my words.

A dot is a dot in fact logically thinking this would be a rarer type if the dot is situated elsewhere to the listed version. After all I am sure all variety types started with a known variant before others were discovered I don't see why this should be treated any different . If the 1897 One dot penny was deemed a worthy entry to the reference books then no reason for this coin to be treated any different?

If you were to use the over critical method that CGS uses to grade coins all those grades in the Rotograph books are 2 1/2 grades too high. CGS have an extremely narrow narrative when grading . I see plenty of coins that should have higher grades than they are awarded and also some that beggar's belief that they were graded so high. And because they have a vested interest in the outcome of any graded coin because they actively buy/grade/sell I take their grading with a pinch of salt now. I did read that one of our auction houses have been classified as agents for NGC I posted on a thread somewhere on here

More's the point what the bloody hell are Catwiki doing using sellers with less than 95% feedback rating. 83% I wouldn't accept anything from a seller with that rating even if they gave it for free. As for the Auctioneer and the valuations I think it is a case of looks like an XF thumb through the sales and put up average prices. Rather than an in depth scrutiny on condition and authenticity. I questioned one of their sales of a 1961 Irish Mule half crown as it wasn't but had no reply and sale went through so who knows what happens there. A lot of the postage costs are very unreasonable probably x3 what they should be whilst others are very good. But if they wish to keep the 7.9/10 trust pilot rating having sellers with 83% reputation will soon kick that down a few spots if they are not careful

Still reported the tool. I think it was a massive mistake to infringe copyright by trying to portray it as a PCGS slab. Foot note or no foot note everything above that skirted authenticity even saying commemorative silver. The only silver in that coin is the colour

Yes in fact I would even go further and do not even go near ebay until you have enough knowledge under your belt. It can be a very expensive failing ground and not a place for a new collector. If anything you see that takes your eye you can always come here . I 100% guarantee you will be given precise info and the reasons

I think it is par for the course these days with cam/scope images. Unless you have stereo scopes which cost a fortune you are always going to make a choice between quality and clarity. That is more than acceptable and only the periphery suffers a little loss of focus but I would have no trouble Identifying anything. I know some cams have settings other than point and click like a camera with fixed point or facial tracking

Although I think the description is a little flattering. I would say the coin was gnawed on by a Beaver http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GEORGE-III-TOWER-MILLED-SILVER-HALFCROWN-COIN-015145-/260642761054
