  1. Well i was sure it would of been proof from the picture but atleast you got your answer Are they plated or silver ?.
  2. You can only keep looking Kev cgs have graded four in there opinion satin finish so maybe one day you will get lucky
  3. In answer to your question i dont have one or heard of one. I have just checked a coin news article on Bronze penny flaws and its not mentioned in that either.
  4. Before you start looking for any the 1874 i think was a typo for 1875 of which there are a couple of types. Happy hunting
  5. But again Frank there are quite a few of those all in the same place and again documented in the updated Freeman and David Groom book.
  6. Yes thanks Mike the sea line sometimes i cant tell especially if the coin is worn and even then sometimes i am unsure. The 1874 can be tricky to tell the differences between them all atleast i struggle ,i need to try and spend some more time trying to get my head round them. Talking of daft dots the ebay coin also had one at the side of the ship
  7. Just shows how much i know about them as didnt think it was one
  8. If its raised and wont come off its a bit of grit or similar on the die so Ideally you would need to find another one to make it of any interest IMO. As far as sending it to someone they are just going to tell you what you already know and some of the people on here will no doubt give there opinion Another option is something that has been mentioned on here a rust spot on the die that starts off minute and can become bigger. Whatever it is you really need to find another one atleast so maybe just keep hold of it and keep looking. The other thing is the 1870 & 1875 the dot is a lot bigger and cant be mistaken for anything else.
  9. Thanks for the above comments ,i am suprised more people havent given an opinion .As i have mentioned before i can learn more from a coin that i dont think is right rather than one that is.
  10. I think Jerry has got them spot on
  11. The above comment has made me start to think If your reading this thread PLEASE post if you think the coin has been cleaned or not. There is no right or wrong answer just interested in everyones opinion. Pete.
  12. Sorry i cant see it at all on the picture and the tiny white mark (if thats it) is in the wrong place. My opinion is the coin has been cleaned. Pete.
  13. The cleaning may have just caused damage as the marks are that small and i am not convinced as a couple of dots close together is a bit random. The Flaw between the O & N is documented in Freeman and therefore collectable and quite a few of them rather than just one known that would be considered more an error.. You mention the coin being a high grade and the one flaw is scarce above VF maybe put up a picture of the full coin. Well spotted though regardless of what it is Pete.
  14. Now your being the tricky one amending all your previous post
  15. Sorry but am i missing something here The coin is from a 1937 proof set (or is it ) i could buy a full set for that and if i took my time would find a nice one as plenty available. Even if i put the crown in plastic i would still be happy with a lot less than £475. So based on the pricing £475 do you think that is ok for a normal one ?. To defend the seller is fine and always two sides to every story....... i am the first to defend anyone and going to leave this thread now Perhaps he was to busy.........
  16. The question is why knock over £2K off and if he acknowledges it is now not one why is he still listing it as such on a different platform. In answer to your question yes anyone who trys to sell a coin for £2K plus knowing that its worth £100 is totally out of order.
  17. He sold the coin originally at a price listed at £2,850.00. Now a month later he is happy to sell it for £475.......Still listed as VIP. Surely you would get a second opinion and if he was sure why not put in a LCGS holder rather than sell it for £2K less ,would only cost £30/40 or so. Makes me think he did not have a clue what it was or trying to have someone over either way he is best leaving them alone and should IMO of made a big apology to the buyer. Maybe he did and the biggest lesson learned is leave them well alone if not in a designated slab or you have the knowledge to be sure seeing the coin in hand. Nothing to do with me or any of my business just wouldnt like anyone else to pay way over trusting a dealer.
  18. What this does show looking earlier is how many decimal collectors there is. Looking at compleated listings of the one mentioned they are selling hundreds
  19. Seller should stick to what he knows. Hammered and early milled and leave these so called VIP things alone
  20. Yes they have probably already sold them
  21. I bet they would sooner have £20 than one
  22. Well as each day goes on there is more of them and all will be put away.....or sold (to be put away ) . If they were mine i would have put two on ebay already why you got £50 for the other one. No i wouldnt......i would of put all three on
  23. Olympic swimmer with lines is a bit different there is only 600 of them. How many are they giving out of these everyday ,i dont have a clue as never been ?
  24. If it gets silly........is £50 not enough
  25. I should of looked on ebay first before posting There is already loads of them on
