  1. Is it available online?
  2. Looks more like a proof to me.
  3. Couldn't agree more. I think this case isn't too bad but I shake my head whenever I see Perth Mint bronze with indistinct denticles and Queen's face in an MS slab. It may be technically uncirculated but if it doesn't look uncirculated I'm not going to pay uncirculated money for it.
  4. What about the obverse?
  5. I'd say EF but the colouring makes it look like it may have been cleaned.
  6. Are the avatars that load taking a while to load?
  7. I would agree with Freeman 1+A.
  8. Works for me - it looks like it's being served by the forum too so if you're seeing other people's avatars you should be seeing your own.
  9. Just checked the catalogue, mintage of a bit over 30,000 compare to all the others in the low 100,000s - I guess that explains it.
  10. Rarer than it seems?

    My coins

Yes https://headsntails14.wordpress.com/ is good for pennies and http://aboutfarthings.co.uk/catalogue/ is good for farthings but I don't know of anything online that covers halfpennies or silver (or gold) as nicely.

    My coins

Yes I was going to say looking for varieties is probably worth it, though are there are any decent online resources? MIchael Gouby's site has a lot of detail but it's geared more towards sales.
  13. Ah, so Freeman misclassified one? I guess the Freeman auction catalogue isn't well-enough illustrated to tell?
  14. Is the one that didn't sell in the Michael Freeman collection the one at https://rarestpennies.wordpress.com/1861-f19/?
  15. First one could be obverse 15 (bulging forehead). Not sure about the second.
  16. Ah thanks - just as well I ordered the new Gold Sovereign book yesterday then.
  17. What year is it? Would agree with Freeman J/Gouby k anyway.
  18. 200th anniversary of Frankenstein... running out of things to commemorate?
  19. Is "Silver Pennies and Linen Towels: Story of the Royal Maundy" just an updated version of "The Royal Maundy" also by Brian Robinson? Also, anyone happen to have a working link to a .pdf of "Great Britain Maundy Coinage Since 1822: A Guide to the History, Ceremony and Coinage of the Royal Maundy" as mentioned at http://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v11n13a33.html
  20. I'm never too sure - I'd personally hold out for something with a bit more meat on the bone still. Tens of dollars would be what I'm willing to spend.
  21. Reportedly sovereigns were exported to South East Asia from Australia and the South East Asian consumer preferred the shield design to a dragon being slayed.
  22. It's now listed as currently postponed - anyone know what's going on?
  23. Excellent find - probably worth a few hundred AUD in that condition. The obverse looks like it may have been cleaned so a third-party grader would likely not grade it I think.
  24. Is it a proof? In any case, while the mintage is higher than the 1923 and it is still a very low mintage sovereign (a couple of thousand from memory).
  25. Thank you. What was the year and month for that Coin Monthly?
