  1. old toilet stolen in Blenheim Palace burglary 1 hour ago Share this with Facebook Share this with Messenger Share this with Twitter Share this with Email Share Media captionThe 18-carat golden toilet was previously displayed at the Guggenheim Museum in New York An 18-carat solid gold toilet has been stolen in a burglary overnight at Blenheim Palace. A gang broke into the Oxfordshire palace at about 04:50 BST and stole the artwork, Thames Valley Police said. The working toilet - entitled America, which visitors had been invited to use - has not been found but a 66-year-old man has been arrested. The burglary caused "significant damage and flooding" because the toilet was plumbed into the building, police said. It was part of an exhibition by Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan that opened on Thursday. The 18th Century stately home is a World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. It is currently closed while investigations continue. Speaking last month, Edward Spencer-Churchill - half-brother of the current Duke of Marlborough - said he was relaxed about security for the artwork. "It's not going to be the easiest thing to nick," he said. Police said they had nothing to go on

  3. Funny enough its grade has me scratching my head its not fine or near fine but all the details are really clear , fair is a grade too low , darn it it is a difficult one. I think it might be near fine , go on I grade it as that , lots of eye apeal though
  4. Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination. Oscar Wilde
  5. Yes but if you buy the 1937 penny then you have to try and get the farthing halfpenny sixpence etc You buy the 1808 penny and you have the only one or the set , should not cost you enough to buy a semi detatched house as well
  6. cleaned or uncleaned - which do you prefer?
  7. I think mine is 2018 but cannot find the darn thing to check - how careless

  10. If you want to upset cofee sellers refer to them as illegal immigrants rather that baristas
  11. Only £55 what a bargain
  12. There again most auction stuff is either single coins worth £100 plus or bulk collections again worth £100 plus the single coins tend to be bought by collectors to boost their collection and the bulk lots tent to be bought by dealers . Obviously this is just a generalisation and the two sorts of buyers can slip into either camp.
  13. Yes 15% too 20% seems much more reasonable , by putting up their fees so much they will effectively drive all sellers to the oposition. Shrewd move NOT!!!!
  14. Really they should have taken the item down by now , arwell out of my hands now and into the hands of someone who doesnotgiveashit
  15. As marleybob has admited the coin he has for sale is stolen I have done my duty and reported the item to ebay - hopefully item should be taken down very soon
  16. Surely if it was take from a church with no permission that would make it stolen property and ou would be commiting a crime by buying it
  17. Quite interesting this - there is a seller at the moment trying to sell a 1860 TB farthing ,just an ordinary one as a mule when it quite obviously is not . Coin is worth about £30 and he has it for sale at £1600 it would be quite easy to take him to a small claims court and claim your money back , but there again why bother when you know its only worth 2% of it BIN value . Maybe he believe the old addage "A fool and his money are soon parted"
  18. Did we even know this might happen to coins back in the seventies when we put tham in these albums.
  19. OMG cannot imagine anyone even a profesional cleaner would want them
  20. Another pickup from york a political token from middlesex a rare token and ever popular . Not in the best of grade but again great VFM
  21. I think its the simple complexity of the collecting and hundreds of different varieties that puts people off - but they are great little pieces of social history and art and also show the rapidly changing social and economic pressures of the time
  22. 18th cent tokens are a great VFM area at the moment .
