  1. Apparently the national trust now has over six million members up from two million in the year 2000, I gave in a joined early on this year and have been having a free day out nearly every weekend and have enjoyed every minute of it . Running out of places nearby to go too though now, LOL One of my faves is the little known biddulph Grange gardens Partner is looking a bit fed up when i mention another stately house miles away though.
  2. tut tut - not found inocent or guilty yet
  3. yuck , yuck , yuck. worth £25
  4. I love the way he thinks he can default on the scotch part of the national debt then think that the new country will be regarded as a good credit risk by the international credit sharks out there. Salmon for tea ,more like sardines
  5. Please apply- Van gaal Co/Old trafford football stadium Old trafford. P.s Each player must not demand more than what the prime minister earns in a year as their weekly wage
  6. or shilling
  7. M.P. feel the love people , feel the love
  8. Some pobjoy stuff is ok , it's just the run of the mill stuff (esp comemeratives) is dreadful
  9. MMMMMM very nice - shame about the light strike though , and do i detect a bit of wear on the curls between the ear and the nose . A far from perfect coin , rev is far better
  10. Not a martin platt coin by any chance is it?
  11. There tend to be a lot of penny collectors so the market sez it all really , I would have a guess at there being around 50 copper pennies and less than 10 copper farthings and halfpennies. it is true that you often see them for sale - remember the same coin is sometimes put for sale with two or more dealers - increases the chance of a sale
  12. i would go with that - impaired proof almost certainly
  13. All look like ideal items for the melting pot , sorry
  14. attractive good fine reverse is pushing near very fine, reverse wear on obverse lets it down badly. nice beginners coin though and i have seen many many in worse grade
  15. Looks like it might have had a nasty experience in a vice?
  16. The aluminium coin boxes are on ebay for around £20 as long as you don't mind paying a little over the odds . If you live in Newcastle i would imagine coin fairs are out of the question. Don't forget the local flea markets of antique fairs a dealer there might be very useful. Remember to COLLECT WHAT YOU WANT and never let anyone try and tell you what that is , you might prefer french or Spanish coins to English , they have some lovely designs esp the french.
  17. You have the perfect start into coin collecting in my view . Try and find a local dealer who goes to antique or collectors fairs , or otherwise rummage round in a few 50p or pound boxes and see what you really like - don't spend a lot remember you are testing the water. Once you have found what you really like just keep on upgradeing start with the common stuff - get rid of yoiur spares on ebay - remember money spent on coins is rarely totally wasted you get some back when you cash them in (sell them). Get one of the superb aluminium coin boxes fro lidl they are great for less than a tenner - they often appear just before xmas
  18. Just like basil faulty in "The psychiatrist " did anyone look at this and get the wrong idea?
  19. Stinks to high heaven as a con trick. The coin would not be a lavrillier pattern if it was a stolen one fro a church - all the pattern coins have good provinances . Someone somewhere has prob done in £1500 in on a poor copy
  20. The queen really has a boil - if you believe that go to jail directly to jail do not pass go, do not collect £200 . Please note your jail term will last until you cannot see the boil anymore , if after three weeks of questioning you can still see the boil move directly to the tower of London and await your sentence which will be the first person since 1746 to be hung drawn and quartered. Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S HM Goverment reserves the right to release your death on you tube / dvd for a fee of course and your final selfless act will be used to reduce the national debt (Hopefully to zero)
  21. I wonder if the people buying the kings shilling (freebie from the mail) for £5 off ebay know that for less than half that you can get a silver coin that genuinely could have been a kings shilling . Really surprises me every time , why there are so many suckers out there?
  22. i would be surprised to find gold or silver with large discrepances in their weights . bronze or billion would be a different matter
  23. close to the original - and yes they are selling on ebay right now
  24. I will prob give it to my nephew along with a genuine one he will like that
