  1. Surprisingly, there is one i like (bullion wise that is) hence i said surprisingly
  2. Irish Malts in Scotland, i think not. We all know the best Malts are from Scotland. 40-30 Peter
  3. Its a possibility Paul, watch and See what the hammer price is, the higher it is (only my opinion) then the more possibility of it being passed off as genuine to recoup the outlay and make a few bucks which is why sellers of fakes sell them in the first place. Will be interesting to see the result on this one
  4. In order to deceive an unsuspecting buyer. A genuine coin would sell for 4 figures. What i don't get is if its not contemporary is why they'd sell it, even ebay has rules on that
  5. They're just trying to scare you Bob lol.
  6. Azda,I'm sorry I am going to miss that also. As for making the English mad at me...I have to watch who I make mad, as my Mother's family is from Blackburn, England, so I have to kind-of ride the wall, if you know what I mean! Ha,Ha! Lol, you don't want to visit Blackburn Bob, i used to live 20 Miles away from there, its like a smaller Pakistan, in fact that whole area is like little Pakistan. The local Football Club is owned by chicken farmers, they come from, you guessed it, Pakistan lol
  7. Ahhh numismatist did'nt mention that and i had'nt read Londons description
  8. If you don't have a copy of Spink you should invest in one before spending more cash on coins, mistakes can be costly.
  9. Well thats surprising if CGS have'nt spotted that
  10. Sorry to burst your bubble but the date is on the REV of this, so in essence, its not the rarity you're thinking/hoping/drooling over. You probably paid the right price for its worn grade You were thinking its Spink 3355 when its Spink 3357
  11. Blurb to sell the coin, nothing more. There were prints on both Sides of the 1860 Stuart they would annoy me on such nice coins
  12. As Peter says, you can get a good haggis from a butcher, it is an aquired Taste though. Oh and when you Head to England, make sure you spit as you cross the border, its a custom we Scots tend to do after being oppressed for 300 Odd years, thank god at least you colonials kicked their arse. Touche Peter You are also just going to Miss the best time in Edinburgh, the fringe festival that Runs for the whole of August along with the Edinburgh tattoo in the Castle, its something that should be visited if in Scotland during August, pity you're going to Miss that Bob
  13. Just a curious question Bob. During the die study did anything turn up that wouöd be rare/extremely rare etc. As far as i can see most of this is down to slight movements and nothing more. How do they conclude from the millions of Morgans that were minted that a certain coin or year is rare? As i previously said, i assume American Dealers are Nw. Using/quoting VAM to increase their prices, have you noticed this?
  14. Thanks for the Info Bob. Is there a VAM number to this?
  15. Is it me, or has the links to Platts coin been taken down? I was going to Point out that he's actually reduced the Price to 850 quid now, probably after reading These boards as he does, so he's probably made refrences to threats again i'm assuming Chris? The man is a p***k, sent him en email the other day mentioning i can still see his private auctions names and said he should'nt bother wasting his Money with privacy
  16. And thats how non rarities sell for above their price because everyone who has an eye on a particular coin will have observied the esrimate and thought well maybe someone will go higher than top estimate, so i'll go a smidge higher, meanwhile the other 5 or 6 wannabes will be thinking the same thing and do the same and in the end we have an overpriced coin.
  17. ALL auctions have coins i want, i'd Rather be the one who decides whether to Push it a Little more or just leave alone
  18. So in essence Bob, these 2 guys did a die study and now dealers have ramped up their prices with more schmazmataz than they already do while quoting how rare VAM have said coin X is?
  19. I much Prefer DNW because you can actually bid live and know on the day if you've won. So i won't be bidding with Londons. I don't know why it seems so Hard for them to do some live Internet bidding, i Bet estimates and totals would be much higher with live online bidding.
  20. Must admit, if you think that a nats pubic hairs width over a tooth is going to attract a premium then you should really go and certify yourself today.
  21. Well just bought myself an 1878 Carson City Morgan Dollar. I notice by the NGC site you listed here generic that there seems to be several different types of these. Maybe you or Bob can Check it out for me when it arrives and Tell me which it is
  22. Yes i can't See how they'll get repeat Business if they're now charging more for a longer turnaround. Usually its the other Way around, they Charge more for a QUICKER turnaround. Stupid business sense in my eyes, even PCGS Paris will send your coins back in 14 days at a cost of €30 i think it is, so a cheaper and quicker alternative. I think CGS have Shot themselves in the foot with their new tarif and 90 Day turnaround. I was going to slab a few more but have now given up on that idea, it wouöd have to be a serious rarity for me to go to CGS now
  23. I would echo Benny's advice, I can't find it on their site with or without the W ... they may be busy at the mo with few staff and an upcoming auction (not to mention my coins to completely complete!), but they will take the call and answer your question! And how Long has that been now since you Sent them in and then from finalisied grade Status?
  24. CGS Labels start with 000 normally, but as Declan says, a picture of the slab and UIN would help
