  1. cracking find worth a walk.
  2. If you weren't aware try Jon's site. http://aboutfarthings.co.uk/catalogue/uk-farthings/victoria-1838-1901/victoria-bun-head-1860-1895/1873-farthing/
  3. Nice detail although the toning does nothing for me.
  4. Last year I dipped my toe into Maundy sets (I've obtained a few odd coins over the years) I think I'm quenched on them as a type.
  5. Post decimal coins are going to be an OCD nightmare for collectors in future generations... tourettes will ID numismatists.
  6. The seller has been on ebay since 2004 and not a newbie. If you are not satisfied return the coin. As for TPG I never would buy the slab. There are certainly pug ugly coins in plastic. The obverse should of given you reason to doubt.
  7. Indeed,he seems to have a batch of blinkered followers. The 1970 1d proof is just crazy money. You could buy 2 1970 proof sets for that !!!!
  8. Oh dear..... Newbie or a fool. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-SPECTACULAR-PROOF-FDC-ELIZABETH-II-1970-PENNY-1d-LUCIDO-8/382697622394?hash=item591a8e4b7a:g:FaIAAOSwNe9cJUPH&autorefresh=true
  9. Did anyone buy it? I really couldn't make it out with wear/luster/weak strike.
  10. I had to get a snide (although a decent one) of the 1933 1d...I left a gap in my collection for the real thing....every hope full. I need to check my Euro millions ticket...Lottery have been trying to urgently contact me . With regard to selling, from what I can see, the majority of the value of your collection rests with the minority of coins. It would be easy to feed these into the system as and when you need a cash injection. I'm also sure if you listed the more bread and butter coins...maybe denomination at a time on forums/facebook etc you will get bites although maybe a lot of hassle. Chris I'm sure would also give you a good bang for your buck on outright purchase or commission basis.
  11. Verdi care is the stuff you want. Quite expensive If you research it there are many before and after examples.
  12. Lockdales is fairly local to me and in the flesh inspection negates useless pictures.
  13. I knew Paddy must have fat fingers or a time machine.
  14. And the 3 bears!!!
  15. Nice little cottage industry....don't these mug buyers check feedback?
  16. Must say the currency is more appealing. In fact the proof is a bit of a munter.
  17. I suggest verdi care and careful addition of silver dip.
  18. Hi Dave and welcome. I don't know whether you detect / collect or both. This book published by the owner of the forum will set you on course. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/0948964855/ref=tmm_pap_new_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&condition=new&qid=1543774736&sr=8-1

Farthings are superior to Pennies and that goes to the folk that collect them.
  20. Why the heck slab this? Dodgy bids? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1963-GREAT-BRITAIN-1-2-P-HALF-PENNY-NGC-MS63-RD-GOLDEN-HIND-DESIGN-HALFPENNY/372509356467?epid=102133939&hash=item56bb49b1b3:g:OnoAAOSwDJZb9ZB9
  21. I've still got 7 open from last year.
  22. To get back on topic. My father used to be very condescending....After he died I realized he was just looking down on me.
  23. Beautifully centered.
  24. At least not artificially toned, that our US buddies tend to slobber over.
