  1. She's a model and an actress. Although her acting involves such things as Piranha 3D, so...
  2. As a note, it often seems to depend upon whether the eBay support staff can see exactly what you point out. Which is why it's easier with hammered coins, I suppose as the fakes tend to be a lot more noticeable with the likes of WRL and odd pewter-textures compared to some deceptively-good milled fakes.
  3. Found this one, it's a Spink 1100 - Aethelstan with building on the back and moneyer Adelbert (from York) written under it. Ah, I'm presuming an Ashmore?
  4. Unfortunately this is untrue. Any hammered coins that I report with good evidence before the last 24 hours of the auction are removed. I agree that this might be different with milled coins but many I have reported have also been removed.
  5. How old are we talking? I presume you're not talking about medieval pennies but Victorian/Georgian/Edwardian.
  6. I'm intrigued about this, Chris: Anglo-Saxon 'ADELBERT' short cross not ID'd.
  7. It's a penny of Edward I, Class 1d.
  8. Now that's what I call eye appeal!
  9. Freemasonry has been around since late medieval times but its popularity really took off in the early 17th century. Most days I walk past a masonic hall but it became privately owned in the mid-20th century as the Masons were very much in decline. I understand that it is now seeing somewhat of a rise, but I cannot personally attest that.
  10. I really don't know my ancients but it looks similar to a Constans bronze, with the two victories holding wreaths on the reverse. See this coin, for example. If you could get some better photos the legends might be easier to decipher.
  11. There'll be far more people in the auction room and with current trends it'll be interesting to see what it fetches.
  12. Which auction house, may I ask? Unfortunately I can think of many like that. But there's one in London that is particularly famous for that and then charges astronomical prices.
  13. Exactly. I wasn't suggesting an armed occupant, merely an occupied house with the possibility of a gun being within the confines of the walls. Even so, I do agree it seems overly-forceful.
  14. Perhaps because they couldn't be sure whether the house was empty of other occupants and with the possibility of a weapon inside surprise was the best tactic. John will be better placed to answer.
  15. Ah, my bad. Hopefully it's not applicable, then! (P.S. Good to see your old man lives in Durham, a wonderful part of the world! )
  16. Sorry to hear that you're having to go through all this, Chris. I do hope it gets rectified soon. I'd advise you to read through this, specifically the last part where they state "As a general rule, compensation for damage caused after a lawful search will not be paid." I'd advise contacting a solicitor, although I suspect you've had enough with them after your Lighthouse fiasco. Good luck!
  17. When I get access to my collection in the latter half of June this is something which I'd very much like to assist with. It's a good idea to have it as a webpage for easy access.
  18. Pictures sent. Check your inbox, Hus.
  19. There are few forums for my area of collecting and so the vast majority of my social interaction of the hobby takes place via emails or in person. There's nothing better than a few pints with a fellow collector!
