  1. Unfortunately, my browser is still reporting malware and advising me to avoid predecimal entirely.
  2. I'm always game for deleting spam and come on here most days. Happy to help if you want.
  3. Well, someone got out of bed the correct side this morning. Thanks Peckris, we all wanted to say it.
  4. Google, as a user, is a bot that trawls through forums for links to enable their search engine to perform better and present the forum's posts as results when people search Google. You will also sometimes see Yahoo and others appear. So don't worry, it's only a friendly search bot that follows links. Think of it as a trusty bloodhond, if you will.
  5. Very interesting, I didn't expect it to make the Daily Fail's headlines! Thanks for the link, Beebman.
  6. Listing removed, thanks for the heads up.
  7. If that's what you get in your change up there, Hus, then I'm moving house!!!
  8. I was to happy to receive one of these in my change at the pub last night. Although I cannot, for the life of me, find how many were minted.
  9. It is indeed a shortcross penny. The moneyer is Samuel and the mint is Canterbury. From that photograph of the obverse and the significant level of wear, it is hard to determine a class. But it, at least, looks to be a penny of King John. I hope this helps somewhat. Kindest Regards, Clive.
  10. Looking at a couple of names on their list I can safely agree with you on that one.

 Having a smart phone is brilliant though as it enables the user to internet access virtually anywhere. I am planning on getting one within the next few weeks.
  12. Buying an Edward the Confessor Hammer Cross penny for £190 sold as being of York mint. Actually of Derby mint and exceptionally rare as appears to have used the York dies but had the mint legend altered, as shown by the crude legends and the presence of an annulet in one quarter. Buying an as-struck William I Paxs penny at auction listed as London mint for £260, actually Bristol. Receiving a cut half of Henry I Annulet type for 50 pence. Spink offered me £150. Buying a Coenwulf penny for £350 which is actually a trial strike and the said design never made it into coinage, the 'coin' has been folded awkwardly which implies it was void as tender. It's something that you cannot put a true value on.
  13. Yes - albeit purely for the hammered pieces and a couple of early milleds. Not of much interest to you milled variety specialists
  14. Chris, Your coin does look a little suspect to me but mainly due to the colour and patina rather than any glaringly obvious features. Is it possible to have some larger photographs as I am struggling to see the appropriate detail from these small ones? If you want to, you can email photographs to Clive@HistoricCoinage.com As for Kris, Your coin is a halfgroat of Henry VII, Canterbury mint. It looks to be of the joint issue between the King and Archbishop Morton and appears to be type IIIb with ornate lettering and rosette stops. Kindest Regards, Clive.
  15. I, for one, do not think that it is English. It looks to be similar to the 'Crusader-style' coins that were prevalent in France, so perhaps 13th/14th Century France.
  16. The top one looks to be an Edward III halfpenny, of his second coinage with no marks on reverse. Otherwise, they are broadly correct.
  17. Nope, definitely a penny. A penny is normally around 19mm in diameter, a five pence piece is around 17.5mm in diameter. Bearing in mind that the penny above is a little clipped, it seems to be about the right diameter.
  18. Merry Christmas everyone!
  19. You often get that appearance with polished coins when using a scanner. If he was using a camera and daylight, you'd see something rather different.
  20. Henry VII or Henry VIII - now we need photographs to determine its authenticity, although I suspect that it is a modern pewter reproduction.
  21. I've been getting so many that I'm just spending them.
  22. Any chance of some photos?
  23. A very warm welcome to you Rev!
