  1. A large-scale publicity campaign took place in the weeks before decimalisation day, which included a song by Max Bygraves called "Decimalisation". I wasn't old enough to remember that though!
  2. My 2003 Spink does not go up to that... Do you mean the Spink of the Channel Islands, Scotland etc...? Clive.
  3. The mintmark is a Martlet, this signifies that it is of the Second issue, therefore of 1560-1 and so either Spink 2555 or 2555A but the portrait is too worn for me to tell. Kindest Regards, Clive.
  4. I think that you might have made Chris' day... Not quite my cup of tea, or milk in this case... sorry you had no listed interests and iwas guessing u had quite a few coin pics!! thanku all the same Oh right, Not a problem
  5. I think that you might have made Chris' day... Not quite my cup of tea, or milk in this case...
  6. Sounds like an ordinary 1970s/80s New Half Penny. Fairly common coins. Cheers, Clive.
  7. It looks more like a Scottish Hardhead with the M on but yours does not have the usual lion, but a cross... It's certainly not English and I'd be inclined to go down the Continental route of French/Spanish/Portuguese, whereas the Cross motif strongly reminds me of the Crusader coins I often see: An intriguing coin... What is the diameter? Clive.
  8. It's either an Elizabeth I Halfgroat or Penny of the Second Issue with m.m. Cross Crosslet. I would be inclined to say Penny but it's hard to tell as many coins were clipped therefore altering the diameter. It is London mint, if you look around the shield, starting after the m.m., it reads CIVI TAS LON DON = City of London. A neat little coin! Kindest Regards, Clive.
  9. So it was YOU that outbid me! A very nice coin that intrigued me, hence my small bid. Great photos by the way! Clive.
  10. Good job you did....obviously a forgery,at such a low starting price Obviously!! Oh, how eBay amuses me...
  11. Can't believe I missed it! Oh well... I was so tempted by this but had to restrain myself!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VERY-RARE-1966-SQUAR...1QQcmdZViewItem
  12. If it's truly Uncirculated then you might be able to get about £4 for it, but I wouldn't say that they're worth much more than £2. Clive.
  13. On closer inspection it looks like it might not be a letter at all, looks like someone had too much ale...
  14. I know what you mean. How on earth can we make a U-Turn on a dual-carriageway?!?Otherwise they're fine!
  15. The L in CIVI TAS LON DON is blundered so it looks like a D, it is not a D but an L. So this is a neat error where it appears to read CIVI TAS DON DON, I have an Edward I penny exactly the same.
  16. Any photos? Kindest Regards, Clive.
  17. It's York Mint, CIVI TAS EBO RACI. Looks like it's Spink 1690 with Quatrefoil on reverse and lis on breast. Kindest Regards, Clive.
  18. I wont be active for the next 14 days or so. Holidaying in Shropshire, chasing castles there and in Wales! Have a great time, do they often run away from you?
  19. There were no known female moneyers, I thought it looked like a T with a dash branching off the trunk, but... Richard II please do post any more hammereds that you have, Richard I and I would be interested to see what you have! Clive.
