  1. From my experience, yes, but is much more commonplace on the larger denominations.
  2. That's a result of the striking error. Lots of letters are doubled with this, the Z just being far more prominent. The inner circles do not join up which is a clear indicator of a double-strike. Otherwise, I'm missing something as I do not see another error.
  3. Unfortunately I'm not able to determine an exact class with that obverse.
  4. This is the coin that disappeared.
  5. Wow. That is a very poor fake!
  6. For our US friends as I suspect shipping would be costly to us Brits.
  7. Have you not seen my impressive collection of Una & Lion £5s? They're here, clearly displayed: Nice cabinet, that! I would never be able to leave the house again, though, if I had that in the corner of the lounge!Alas, not mine. Credit given where credit due (http://www.richardscabinets.com/).

  9. Welcome to the forum, blueleaf. If you could post larger images that'd be great. You can host them on sites such as www.tinypic.com and then post them here. Hopefully we'll be able to help further.
  10. What a cheek. Drawing in Henry's beard and flogging it on for a profit. Do you have the original item number, Dave?
  11. Never too much for me! (Squiggly-eyed emoticon) Is that eBay item at £180 a Victorian reminiscence of the Tudor days? Not that I'm aware of. Here's a Baldwin's list you might appreciate (.pdf).
  12. Easy. When you go to the forum click on the Circle or Star to the left of the topic title. That'll take you the first unread post.
  13. I was looking at it before being rudely interrupted by a pop-up. I immediately left the page. If something is interesting, let them read it. You don't look at websites to be bombarded with marketing/questionnaires crap. Given the ease with which information is spread by the internet, I am unlikely to learn anything significant that is only available via this website. After all, it appeared to be a compilation of news from other sites. Precisely. I wasn't all that smitten reading news which I got yesterday from the Spink auction. Perhaps a different take on it or something to grab the eye, but a simple miniature summary of one coin in the most recent Spink auction does nothing for me. It might work as a forum topic generating debate but otherwise...
  14. But you'd always have problems with that, not just from people's subjective points of views but from the likes of the Tealby issues or Stephen's Civil War issues which could be one of the best for the issue wouldn't match up to a normally-struck Henry III or Edward I.
  15. Judging by the fact that their most recent catalogue was permanently marked as 'Unavailable' on their website you might be waiting some time, Stuart.
  16. I think it varies as different types of coins attract different buyers. I know that dealers were picking up pieces in today's Spink auction just as foreign buyers were in DNW's most recent. A fair few lots went to the members of this forum, too, but I do agree that many seem to be moving into the English hammered market, at least, from USA, Japan, Australia and even South Korea and India.
  17. Richard Ambrose summed it up well:
  18. Oh dear. What is the point of providing a phone number if it's not going to be answered? I hope it all works out in the end, Colin, with whichever route you choose.
