  1. Easy. When you go to the forum click on the Circle or Star to the left of the topic title. That'll take you the first unread post.
  2. I was looking at it before being rudely interrupted by a pop-up. I immediately left the page. If something is interesting, let them read it. You don't look at websites to be bombarded with marketing/questionnaires crap. Given the ease with which information is spread by the internet, I am unlikely to learn anything significant that is only available via this website. After all, it appeared to be a compilation of news from other sites. Precisely. I wasn't all that smitten reading news which I got yesterday from the Spink auction. Perhaps a different take on it or something to grab the eye, but a simple miniature summary of one coin in the most recent Spink auction does nothing for me. It might work as a forum topic generating debate but otherwise...
  3. But you'd always have problems with that, not just from people's subjective points of views but from the likes of the Tealby issues or Stephen's Civil War issues which could be one of the best for the issue wouldn't match up to a normally-struck Henry III or Edward I.
  4. Judging by the fact that their most recent catalogue was permanently marked as 'Unavailable' on their website you might be waiting some time, Stuart.
  5. I think it varies as different types of coins attract different buyers. I know that dealers were picking up pieces in today's Spink auction just as foreign buyers were in DNW's most recent. A fair few lots went to the members of this forum, too, but I do agree that many seem to be moving into the English hammered market, at least, from USA, Japan, Australia and even South Korea and India.
  6. Richard Ambrose summed it up well:
  7. Oh dear. What is the point of providing a phone number if it's not going to be answered? I hope it all works out in the end, Colin, with whichever route you choose.
  8. Click me!
  9. Can you not just copy the 'Direct' link and then post it using the IMG icon. It'll then appear as such, with no annoying link.
  10. Indeed. It's some form of commemorative Edward VII issue, most likely a medalet.
  11. Aethelred II coin - "the reverse of coin has what looks like a shield to the centre with god save the king or god save our king there is more writing around it and maybe horses or lions to the sides" "was dug up when digging a trench near Gloucester where I believe the king visited I have had the suggestion this coin has something to do with the fact he married that year but who knows" It's amazing what happens when you're 900 years out...
  12. One man on eBay was selling cabinets. He said it was a wooden construction and, naturally, I was curious. His reply to my query was "Stained beech ply and laser cut acrylic." Not one I'll be buying any time soon...
  13. Azda might have some opinions! He's taken it off Perhaps he read our posts. Fear not, Dave, you can still win it here. Predecimal Advisory Service tooooo the rescue! We're happening! I'm guessing there'll be a bottle of wine in the post for us all? A vintage Nuits-Saint-Georges or a nice bottle of Arran single malt will suffice.
  14. My lots arrived today, immaculately packaged. Impressive.

  16. Sorry, Peter. Rob consigned them to me last week.
  17. I just love the fact that the Calais mint seems to have been in operation for a couple hundred more years. There's legs for a BNJ article here. Who wants to let Ben know that he should write-up his findings?
  18. Or, better yet, why not ask what ESC rarities Saxby's can offer you?
  19. If that is what you have Nathan then the scrap value would be calculated as follows: Assumptions: All 12 coins are Sterling Silver (92.5%)Silver price as at 19/09/2013 is $23.11 per troy ounce£/$ rate as at 19/09/2013 is 1.603* Grams per Troy ounce = 31.1 Then the scrap value would be: 362.98g/31.1*23.11/1.603 = £168.26 But you should be able to get more on eBay if as you say they are immaculate with the documentation I hope that helps! That much? If 10 are 31.47g of .925 then that's about £107 scrap plus another £17 for the lighter two. I was assuming 363g @ .925 Same. Different spot prices and scrap merchants online. Various estimates range from £120 to £165. So somewhere around the £140 mark should be fair.
