  1. Oh they're listed under the Isle of Man in the Krause World coin book. The Halfpenny is rarer. If they are comparable or better than the one in the picture then they could be worth at least £35 for the pair...I'd have to access the eye appeal. True Uncirculated examples are worth 3x that. PM me if you want my address.
  2. I really don't know....But if you sent them too me i'd give you the going rate (once I'd found that out!)
  3. Those are something that would interest me (being in Germany) but I've never seen the likes before.
  4. I just got another bloody neg from a new Ebayer!! That's another thing that annoys me....When you email in reply to an ebay message (not the 'Use The Yellow button type') they often don't get through to the buyers. I suspect because most spam filters see them as spam.
  5. As a seller that sells quite a few things I find it sensible to do feedback weekly. I used to leave feedback after the customer had paid, as you're right, they've done their bit, all I have to do is my bit. But, there are so many uncommunicative morons out there that don't read the description properly and don't even query with you before they simply leave negative feedback. Most recently this has happened with people that have bought an e-Book and were waiting for a printed book. On my most recent neg (user id: chrisperkins) the buyer emailed asking where the book was. I told them I had emailed the link weeks ago, and repeated the link. I also said that if they were expecting the printed version, that they could upgrade and get that too (for about £2.50!). They didn't reply...I simply got a neg saying I was a con! If you look at my ebook listings, I have been very careful to mention on a number of occasions that the product is a digital ebook. I have hundreds of satisfied customers that can read, but still I get twits like the last chap leaving negative purely because they're illigitimate illiterates! So, I save my feedback, just in case that happens, in which case I can leave the a throughly deserved neg in return for being a complete plonker.
  6. It does sound like a rubbish idea and an encouragement for shill bidders. What they are obviously trying to do is stop the Chinese (usually) people from sending fake emails to people offering them expensive things that they were the underbidder on. Every time I list one of my hundreds of 1934 wreath crowns and it sells....I get reported to me from the underbidders that they were emailed to say the item would be offered to them at the price they bid and that all they need to do is email the 'seller' at a free provider email account and then send them loads of money!
  7. That's true, I've seen the 1901 Halfpennies too.
  8. I've had one of those too, in fact I sold it to the forum member Master JMD. I've seen other dealers listing them too, so it appears that there are a few very very prooflike 1995 farthings out there. It will attract a premium over normal farthings of that date, as it's probably a very early strike. I don't think you could call it a proof though.
  9. Yes, probably. And I'll happily have a look at the Early modern stuff that you have. i'll reply to your PM.
  10. A friend of mine in Germany says that he likes the way that the British head of state is above politics, unlike the president of Germany who is elected and basically a member of the Labour party. I live here, and Horst Köhler seems a nice enough chap, he goes around making speeches and commending people for doing brave things, patting babies, meeting the Pope, heads of state and such like. Apart from that though, he's pretty pointless and has absolutely zero razzmataz! Compared to Her Maj, he's just a man in a suit.
  11. Do you know, I can't remember now. I think it's a script that you plop into your cgi area....Or it could be something based on the htaccess procedure.
  12. There are lots of rare and extremely rare coins in the book already. I don't think it would call for a separate book if that's what you meant. It may confuse the public (like with the 1983 mule 2p for example). I was thinking of having some kind of checklist in the book, perhaps with boxes to tick when the coin is in possession, and space after every type for notes. But then I thought that once someone has used a book to tick what they have and make notes they may be unlikely to buy a newer one because they'd have to re-copy all the info. Any thoughts?
  13. You can install programmes on your server to prevent hotlinking, which is when other people make webpages that link to your pictures and thus use your bandwidth with no benefit to you.
  14. I do intend to push further back in time, but it will be quite a task to get all the images together I suspect. The 2008 edition will be re-type set and will make better use of colour, perhaps having a colour coded outside page margin for each denomination and generally a more modern look.
  15. A photograding website for each type is something I've always wanted to do in order to give people an idea and protect them. Lack of time is my biggest problem.
  16. You can use anything you find on predecimal.com if you write under it courtesy of Chris Perkins and then link to www.predecimal.com
  17. A brass model Prince of Wales Sovereign, or possibly a commemorative coin. Do a google for Prine of Wales model sovereign and you should find something.
  18. For people that simply want to ask a question and don't want to register I have left registration non compusary. Every time we are spammed I ban the whole IP range of the spammer, but it's a loosing battle, they simply hijack other mail servers and get their spam bots (it's all automated, there are no actual people doing it) to spam me from there. The only reason they do it is in the hopes that google and other major search engines see it and rank their pages. They used to register and then spam from a registered account, but I vet all registrants now and rarely let people become members that are based in China, Korea, Russia, the Ukraine and several other No.1 spam lands. I delete it straight away throughout the day, so there is probably lots of spam that only I see!
  19. Good point, it's not even in CCGB.
  20. Great. He bought those off me at the London coin fair on the previous saturday. He does a lot of book business although whenever I see him he never has many books at all!
  21. It's a London Coins thing (although they are very much in Kent). I'm sort of half trying to ignore it, hoping it will go away! They will have an uphill struggle to get a reputation equal to the far from perfect PCGS and ANACS on the other side of the pond.
  22. I don't mind at all if you upload pictures of pictures. I used to like to draw when I was younger, I was quite good at cars but haven't tried for years.
  23. The first edition was published in 1974 (printed 1973). See here: http://www.rotographic.com/outofprint_rotographic2.htm It was based on the late 60's Check your Change booklets.
  24. That's your neck of the woods isn't it Geordie? That area known as '275 miles north of London'?
  25. Quite often coins sell for higher than catalogue price especially when they are choice condition scarce/rare coins, or often even absolutely perfect coins of any date. The best of the best often attracts a premium, and because the best of the best are not sold as often as the rest, they are in huge demand, hence the wild prices.
