  1. How is everyone? Can anyone provide any or even all of the following as 300dpi images for use in Collectors' Coins GB 2013: Guinea (1787 or later) Guinea, military type 1813 Half Guinea (1787 to 1800) Half Guinea (1804 to 1813) Quarter Guinea (Any, or all of the 3 types 1797 to 1813) Much obliged!
  2. Any dealer who pays more than the scrap value for them (which is 2 or 3p each) would be bonkers. Even selling them for £1 each at a rate of 20 a year, it's enough to last 2 generations! There's no point spending £100 for an £800 return if it's over 40 years (all being well healthwise). For all late 60s coins, I pay around scrap value then keep a handful for stock (20 or 30 perfect examples) and scrap the rest. In the late 60s even bank managers advised their customers to buy such bags of the last pre-decimal coins. Apart from helping the banks get shot of their old money, it served absolutely no purpose. There are still hundreds of bags out there I'm afraid, especially '67.
  3. Thankyou very kindly everyone. We had a barbeque and I had a surprise young lady visitor that normally shouldn't even be in the same Bundesland. It was (and still is) bloody hot....the weather I mean, obviously.
  4. That's better. I don't think there's a whole grade between them though. See my florins too: http://www.predecimal.com/british-predecimal-coins-florins-c-51_32_36.html
  5. I don't look on ebay for coins, it would push me over the edge.
  6. Err, to be honest I would rather have all my finger and toe nails pulled out than have anything to do with that or such business practices. It's crap and will always be crap - next year, in 100 years, in 1000 years. Covered in gold, covered in honey, coated in cocaine, layered in pure Justin Bieber saliva, digitally signed by all of the Beatles including the dead ones, encrusted with meteorite from planet Elvis .... still crap. I think you already know that though! I leave you lot alone for 10 minutes. I do despair.
  7. I got the couple of PMs recently. I'm away from tomorrow but will update the forum software when I get back. And John, please do link to me etc. I'll do likewise.
  8. Silver has plummeted too! Silver usually follows roughly the same trend as gold.
  9. Of course in Germany they've been hot on this from the moment eBay was invented! I have to list and declare everything so they can take the standard 7% VAT on coins added to the 13% ebay/paypal and of course income tax from the total profit and there you have it, that's the reason I rarely sell coins on ebay, prefering to make my own website do the work!
  10. It could be that your cache still thinks the images aren't there. I noticed Paulus' avatar also was missing earlier. Most perculiar.
  11. That's alright. I don't know what happened there though, the image must have been corrupt. All I did was change a couple of pixels, re-save it then re-upload and all is well.
  12. I noticed that too the other day. Let me have a look.
  13. That all goes back to when I established a numismatic research group and manually put members into it. I must have then put it as part of the automatic thresholds. Not a bad thing though, is is?
  14. My estate agent friend will do a managed vetted etc let for 8% pcm, as it's me The tenants have been moving their stuff out this weekend. Mr Green says he has a replacement front door and frame, which is kind. I fly over on the 23rd to have a look at the state of the place. Will no doubt need to get things done (dad's good at repairs and that kind of stuff). It's handy as somewhere I can stay for a few days myself. I may even leave it empty for a couple of months to use as a base. Mind you, I said that last time and had new tenants knocking on the door the day after the old one moved out.
  15. I must say Tom, I had a problem with Colin Cooke's grading a couple of times. Don't know if one of his employees was at fault, but I do remember a couple of coins graded as UNC that I'm postitive had minimal wear. A learned friend of mine was also of the same opinion for different purchases. I haven't bought anything from CC for ages now though, so that's no reflection of current practices.
  16. I hope it wasn't a seriuous dealer that called it EF, as that's just silly.
  17. I keep forgetting this is no longer a 100% male domain!
  18. She's from Chatham, innit. My house nearby needs a new tenant if your interested Miss Brooks. No need to worry about paying any actual money, just keep your webcam on!
  19. Found this one, it's a Spink 1100 - Aethelstan with building on the back and moneyer Adelbert (from York) written under it.
  20. I've had these kicking about for ages, added the odd one here and there and mainly filtered them out of purchased collections. I had a feeling I'd get asked for pictures. Will try to do some at the weekend. It was only when I'd listed them that I realised I had 200, give or take!
  21. The 1920 6d went a couple of hours ago (not to a forum member)! The man's gone quiet over the Double florins, so consider them all for sale still. That 1889 broken I is really really nice and the 1888 broken I is great but not perfect.
  22. I get that quite a lot actually! People email (or leave feedback) saying the coin was better than expected. I have to kick myself because clearly it was too cheap!
