Difficult to value. What else have you got? I once bought some things from the son of a man that was employed as a designer at the Royal Mint at about that time.

It's a 1951 crown reverse which was made by using a Victorian crown reverse. This is probably a stage from that process (Victorian die adjusted to remove the original date so that '1951' could be added). I imagine that's what it is!

Be hard to do. Coin dealers are mavericks by nature and often get a bit funny about sharing their wares with other dealers, even if the only sharing is a page of web results. Onlinecoins was good and I knew Andy too, but obviously it doesn't seem to have worked. The google search thing isn't a bad idea though. Surely lots of specific coins can be found that way, many of which are on dealers websites and on offer?

In the first image it looks very much like an electrotype. Does it appear to be 2 halves stuck together? I have a couple of really nice looking 'Greek' coins that are fairly modern electrotypes.

What I find most interesting is that in the past things like that simply got spent and circulated. No one cared, coins were (and are) simply a convenient form of exchange. It didn't matter what it looked like - the purchasing power of a halfpenny was always of greater significance. Nowadays anything with a slight blob on it ends up on ebay within about 8 seconds, with a starting price of £50!

Or here Dave!: Boxes of 10 Boxes of 100 The Lindner capsules are certainly like the top type with the lip on both edges. Lighthouse, Lindner and Safe (the main German manufacturers) all supply capsules with the lip. I don't know where the others come from.

My friend Richard in Bexley recently sold a largeish collection of Numismatic books to a London based Numismatic book dealer. Quick and easy and a fair price, but I think even he needed a list! You lot seem to be having such fun with Marina, so instead of just pulling the plug I've removed the link and email/skype and also banned 'her'. Clearly an automated bot thing. The pic loads wrong (at the most interesting part, some would say) deliberately to encourage the viewer to click on the now removed link which wasn't really 'Added later'.

Hello Peter. 1) I'm still in the process of preparing the house. It has a new kitchen now, plus new windows and external doors. Some decorating also done, but still a lot to do plus other bits e.g. some plumbing in the bathroom and the lounge needs a new floor. 2) I still have my 400+ forgeries but the houses have priority at the moment. 3) Hopefully by the end of this year. The houses are draining resources, time, my last nerve. 4) I'll probably stretch back a little over time, but am keen to keep CCGB the number 1 paperback for GB coins that most people want to know about, and those are pretty much nearly always GIII and later. Adding pages increases printing costs and therefore the price of the book. We'll see.

No! 'Most collectable' is a tough one because what people collect is subjective. Rarest is probably that Olympic swimmer 50p with the lines on the face that was withdrawn, or was just the Royal Mint being sloppy. As the public aren't aware of it though, it's not generally collected like the dateless 20p was.

Yes, I meant Third Guinea, not Quarter. Mostly I seem to deal in pre 47 silver (due to the Guardian article last year) and the odd bit of scrap gold and bags and bags of coppers. Any dealer who pays more than the scrap value for them (which is 2 or 3p each) would be bonkers. Even selling them for £1 each at a rate of 20 a year, it's enough to last 2 generations! There's no point spending £100 for an £800 return if it's over 40 years (all being well healthwise). For all late 60s coins, I pay around scrap value then keep a handful for stock (20 or 30 perfect examples) and scrap the rest. In the late 60s even bank managers advised their customers to buy such bags of the last pre-decimal coins. Apart from helping the banks get shot of their old money, it served absolutely no purpose. There are still hundreds of bags out there I'm afraid, especially '67.

Err, to be honest I would rather have all my finger and toe nails pulled out than have anything to do with that or such business practices. It's crap and will always be crap - next year, in 100 years, in 1000 years. Covered in gold, covered in honey, coated in cocaine, layered in pure Justin Bieber saliva, digitally signed by all of the Beatles including the dead ones, encrusted with meteorite from planet Elvis .... still crap. I think you already know that though! I leave you lot alone for 10 minutes. I do despair.
