  1. Past hour
  2. I have sinced found a few other coins with a ghostly H including another 1875. If you look at the attached image there is an 8 a C and also some guys face in the circle with long hair and a pointy nose any ideas who it is?
  3. Thanks I did have a look, I just found this coin. Its hard to say with the image quality what actually is there could be anything. In my image the coin on the left is from LCA and the coin on the right is the one I just found, I drew some lines to show the position roughly. I also added an image of the coin seperately. its 0.99 buy it now plus shipping. I know the lines I have drawn are not perfect but it doesnt quite match up with the example on the left.
  4. Today
  5. You might see a flying orange flying man-baby in london complaining about us being late for the third world war (well they were late for the first two weren't they?)
  6. Thanks. I can JUST about make it out now you've told me, but perhaps you hammered guys are more used to knowing where to find it!
  7. Exactly. There are no H’s on those two pennies, or faces on Mars or images of Jesus in toast.
  8. Good work ! I'm having trouble finding the 1946 ONE'. Although I spend alot more time searching for other types.
  9. Thanks, the amount of time i have spent lookng for the more common coins I'm starting to think will be easier to find and buy coins which are attributed. Im lucky so far most of the coins I have found are types I could never afford.
  10. I recently found this 1898 penny on ebay. I believe it is Gouby type Ca, which is rare, but I cannot easily find and auction (or other) sale information for this sub-variety. Does anyone have any sale information which might help me value please?
  11. Both of these are examples of classic pareidolia !!
  12. Interestingly, when I zoomed into your 1877 (no H) I can see a similar ghostly H. And it's in just about the correct position too. And no, I don't really believe it's an H either, but the more I stare at it the clearer it becomes.
  13. That's long gone, I may have the pictures at home, I will check when I can. What type of coin is it? I can't search for UIN but the AI will find Half crowns for example.
  14. Don't ignore that the original Reddit post was made by someone called Brexit-Cereal... !
  15. It's amazing how the letters are so neatly and completely removed! (Almost looks like it was intentionally done.) Since the missing letters are unfortunately "REX" and "FID D", it might eventually be given the nickname "abdication 5p" if more examples are known. Long live our King, and long may he reign!
  16. Having dismissed the H as an anomaly, I might have to revise my opinion as I saw the face of Jesus on my slice of toast this morning...
  17. It was thanks to Michael's footnote in that - about the 1946 ONE' penny being scarcer than the 1926ME - that I finally managed to get Spink to include it in their Standard Catalogue.
  18. You've better eyesight than me then! I was looking hard for just that but couldn't see it...
  19. I'd be happy to rate that EF (perhaps AEF on the obverse, just a trace of extra wear on the hair?)
  20. You're a day early...
