VickySilver Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 These have a bit of look of ex-Gerald Jackson to me (i.e. Spink NY sale of last year).... Quote

Prax Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 yes but 2 more auctions within that time Quote
azda Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Small picture i know, but is this an open 3? Quote
Prax Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 No David it is not unfortunately. but it seems like it has an extra bit of the lower serif pulled outwards, which could make it more scarce than the open 3.A better pic would help Quote
Prax Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 That said the 3's upper portion looks like a classic open 3 but the lower part shows the serif extending a little more than the normal open 3s. Quote

I have already overshot my budget for this month Nice coin Prax. It's not one of the scarce types but still a beautiful coin. Was it a type you were missing in your collection or did you get it as an upgrade? Quote

Was it a type you were missing in your collection or did you get it as an upgrade?Neither it is a NGC 64 RB and I got it 2 reasons a) because it looked like there was a raised area between R and G and because it is the first example that I have which conforms to Freeman's footnote 3, which states that sometimes the tooths give the impression of being beads as the area closest to the rim is not struck properly. With this one there are about 20 tooths suffering from this problem in various places Quote
