Pete, Calm down, vickysilver is a very knowledgable contributor in the Victoria era regardless of metal, he knows his onions and is from America. Pete, you May want to Calm down before the Family Call the men in white coats:)

The men in white coats have just been ,but told me i am passed help.

Gotta chill dude. We're here to learn, we don't have to agree with any slab grade, especially American slabs, but you need to chill, it's a slab grade, so not a pop at you. Chill

Hey, Pete, I don't actually think VS was referring to YOU personally as hollow...I saw it only as a little jab at the TPGC's elitism at using the term 'finest known' nothing more! We AND he, all know that the term is only meant to describe the best example stabbed by the company.

Also I think asking to see the picture was a genuine request, it must be a pretty good coin, we'd all like to see it?

Honestly, if you keep re-reading his post I think you will be able to see it a different way! :)

Anyway, I thought you said you'd chilled out? ;)

Did you forget to breath out? :)

C'mon, let's take a look at these two H pennies?

We all are still trying mate. The job is never completed. If I were to meet the me I was thirty years ago I would be horrified (and probably a little amused)…….

Feel a bit bad but that is my own problem not vicky although he wound me up.

I would love nothing more than to see lots of different posts and always try to encourage new collectors.

The two coins are nothing special but are finest Known although there will be better i can only keep looking.

1918H 30558

1919H 31666

Both cgs .

Sorry to be a pain and vicky if your reading this i still think your a W,,ker

Pete, apparently i have a finest known 1860 halfpenny, i got a dude Last week Tell me "if CGS saw his they'd be blown alway" (apparently). CGS Are harsh graders, so to have a finest known in their Books is a feather, but bear in mind there is other coins out there and like a boxing champ everyone wil try and come at you, whT you need to keep in mind is that PCGS and NGC have lower standards

Ha, ha. Pete, I totally get where you're coming from but, let's be realistic, its just a hobby we're talking about. So what. Hardly important in the scheme of things, is is? Are you happy with the coins? Yes? Then, what's the problem? Like I said; Rise above. Let's you and I skip through the meadow together, humming a favourite tune…….

The 1919H is pretty nice IMO, although I don't collect them and don't know how it compares to other high grade examples of this variety:

1919_1d_h_01_cgs_80_31666_pwa_1967.png

CGS have given it a grade of 80 (Choice UNC) and a valuation of £1300

I wasnt a boxing champ but won 11 out of 17 and think its messed my head up with the posts i am making.

I have just decided to send 6 to NGS as a bit of a trial really ,the others have gone to CGS.

I am always looking to upgrade even though i try to buy the best.

I bought a slabbed MS65 1866 this week,it is just that a lot of the better pennies are now already slabbed.

Keep smiling.

Pete.

Whats this meadow we are going through ?.

As for tunes i might bring my drum instead.

Drum is fine with me mate (though don't be banging it too noisily, we don't want to upset the neighbours, do we.).

Meadow? Wherever you fancy. Personally, I'd choose Cheshire, but that's just me being selfish…...

Lmfao, i own the Forum? I take my pill and swallow it when i'm wrong, i can hold my Hand up or i can defend what i'm saying. This forum will never be a ghost Town when i or you or anyone Else leave, i was merely asking you to calm down, i assume it was too radikal for you to hear from me?

So, because a member or 2 has a problem with what i say everyone now has a Problem? Have you tanken a concencus of opinion or has this just come from you? If it's a concencus can I see the poll ?

The other side even i dont like and can be horrible but thats the way i am.

I wish you and everyone else all the best and mean that with a smile..

Uh, Dave had it right, I am just sick of people going off pop reports from the slabbers; obviously I do not know you from any other. Possibly there are other coins out there of merit that may be equal or even better, who knows? There are some coins that are absolute beauties, no question.

Funny how the bit about negatives came out as I suppose I can't judge myself but think I am rather a positive person who loves nice milled coins, particularly silver and copper. Well, sorry if taken wrong but possibly not in the w--ker mode....

PS - I have coins that are a full 50 points better than the next reported by ANY slabbed and yet don't make the "finest known" claim.

Pete, Vicky and Dave. Please shake hands first.

All 3 of you are good contributors. Can we for a moment forget yesterday happened.

We all know how stupid grading companies are and how many integrity problems have been reported about CGS.

That is not to say that Pete's coins are not good. After seeing the pics of the coins I am sure Vicky would have said some nice things about the coins

What on earth is all this about???!

It seems to have come out of nowhere. Are you ok PWA? I do think you may have initially over-reacted and fired the gun that seems to have started this avalanche.....then it was all ok again and Dave went off on a bit of a tangent. What happened there Dave?

Seems to be a storm in a tea cup, we're all friends here.

I won't delete anything, but I will go through altering some of the language, including things partially obscured by dashes etc.

Trying to calm the man down and his reaction to something VS said which did'nt merit the route PWA took in his post, unfortunately he did'nt want to see sense or re-read what VS wrote.

My apologies to the forum members, trying to be the peacemaker does'nt get you anywhere either.

Yes, indeed, very nice coins. I like some nice mostly "red" copper/bronze coins that are rather well struck. For some reason, the KN coins of 1918 and 19 come with better obverses than the H's so finding a non-mushy H is a nice thing indeed. I remember reading some years ago that there was a hoard of 18H's that came to market but that whilst red, all were of the mushy obverse type (hey, did I "coin" a new hyper-varietal? - No, just a die state....).

There we are. Two gents doing the right thing. Over to you Pete show us the man we think you are mate.

Prax would be happy to see this tread becoming such a great source of penny knowledge. It's one I troll regularly on the forum
