I sent him a question too - "is the coin in the picture the one on offer"? Predictably I got no reply,

Re 1876H penny

To be fair on the seller, he is pretty much laying it out as it is. Despite the possibilities, it is not a coin that I would particularly want.

He's actually a friend of Michael Goubys. So i would assume he knows exactly what he has, i spoke to him a few times about some of his coins, he's basically selling his doubles of what he has from upgrades. His name is Ian Fall

His username of alfnail being an anagram of his real name. I've actually bought from him myself, and was very pleased with the item

Only 94.1% positive feedback I noticed. Not a good spec.

I've either bought from or sold to him. Seemed a genuine guy.

Should do well! What's the silver value of that big slug currently?

About a tenner currently but 0.900 silver so may be difficult to sell for scrap in the UK.

No REV picture. I suspect that he pulled a pic off the internet to post on ebay and the actuall coin is a worn 1873

Item Removed....

I WISH I had that ability... LOL....

I meant that I had looked to see what the listing was, and I got a message that the item was removed.....

how did you do that?

There were 4 seperate listings of "genuine" undated 20p

Seller had a no return policy as he said coins came "direct from the factory" !!!

:)

I checked this one to see what feedback said, "item not avaiable", so I assume buyer was well pissed!

I will give it VF.

Imagine sending it out for slabbing.

I would agree Peter although it only just scrapes over the line.

I don't have your grading book Derek, but if the Y P and I in the garter are missing I call them fair, barely visible gives it a Fine as I grade. The obverse of this particular coin is certainly better than Fine, the reverse...?

I am maybe harsh on grading this reverse type halfcrown as I have sold quite a few Poor/Fair 1905's over the years that now are Fine/GF in everybody elses grading scales!

Is it me or does this one look machined.

Error?

Turned on a lathe by the look of it and probably within the past week!

Another case of outrageous overgrading? Looks no better than good fine to me.

1908 Halfcrown

I'd rate it an average of VF (obverse not quite there, reverse a bit better)
