bagerap Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 I'm getting sick of the blatant lies this seller uses on his listing headings. In the body of the copy he states that the coin is Cu-Ni but week after b****y week he's still selling this tat under different trading names. Are ebay interested? Funny you should ask because, no. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Winston-Churchill-Silver-Crown-Coin-1965-Prime-Minister-Great-Leader-Hitler-UK/312519827040?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D6537ec59007f47e690f725c75bb8fde5%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26mehot%3Des%26sd%3D312519827040%26itm%3D312519827040&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Winston-Churchill-Coin-Crown-WWII-WWI-Hitler-Nazi-Germany-Medal-Silver-London-UK/303091841131?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 Quote

Unwilling Numismatist Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Yet another of the "just across the bridge" fakes who seem to be using the proximity of the mint to cover their chickenshittery. Quote

He should make absolutely sure before stating what he thinks it is, or else say he is not certain. I will allow him a little leeway in the honesty stakes, as I know the 1861 die combinations are not the easiest to get the measure of. Quote

Generous of you Mike, but I'd say he knows exactly what he's doing. Quote

Coinery Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 I know this shouldn’t come as any surprise, but there are 317 Elizabeth I coins on eBay at the moment, and I wouldn’t care to own any of them. Quote

Coin#addict Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Do these hammered coins look like they were minted yesterday? The seller has quite a few for sale. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HAMMERED-SILVER-MEDIEVAL-COIN/372630617715?redirect=mobile Quote
Unwilling Numismatist Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 I wouldn't touch any of his hammered with the exception of the really worn lizzie 1st. Quote

Cheap as chips and plenty around. 1 Quote

I have a few of this issue and they pretty much always look like this, although you occasionally see them with a nice gold tone. Eastern Polish/Belorussian soil is very acidic, so uncleaned examples from soil often have ugly patina which is better lost IMO. As per mrbadexample they were minted in the millions and can be bought wholesale for a few quid each. 1 Quote
Paddy Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Yes - same applies to the Hungarian Denars of the same era - I found 7 in a job lot of foreign coins bought cheaply recently. No reason to doubt their authenticity and sadly worth only a few quid each. 1 Quote
Coin#addict Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Yes, they do look rather cheap and nasty, not something I would purchase either. Seems to be an upsurge in the sale of them. There must be a market for them but they look too new for my liking. 👍 Quote
