The only real want in the sets is the Sov, a graded 70 are selling up to £1k and more, personally i'd buy the set, get the sovereign graded and punt it and keep the 2 and 1/2 as cheap gold. 1949threepence Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 6 minutes ago, craigy said: how is that achieved ? Simple. When you click on the chain box to insert a link, you obviously copy and paste the web address in the top box. Then if you leave the bottom box blank, all the link text you insert in the top box will appear in your post. To avoid this, you type something in the bottom box, like "link" or whatever, and that is what will then appear in the post, as your link to click on. Quote

1949threepence Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Ah, a 1933 penny. The description and back story is amusing. link Quote Hello everyone I have a special coin for sale everyone who knows the topic will know what I mean. This is not another auction with poor pictures and poor description but I try to describe best how I can my item to give you the best view to your evaluation. I have very rare coin for sale One penny 1933 which one I bought about 2 months ago in Caerphilly from privet person. Previous owner said me a story of this coin, that coin was in his family since ever and his grandfather and father was look after for coin very carefully. You can see this on the pictures above, both sides of coin are shiny and looks like varnished, rant of the coin is wee bit concave and sharp ( you can see this pic. no. 1and 2 ) . All dimensions are real and you can see them on pictures no. 4,5,6. All pictures are made by myself and show the coin which you will receive. On the last two pictures you can see date zoomed in, because this is very important as you know last two digits of date should be the same (33) .For me they look very similar. Dimensions: diameter - 31,08mm thickness - 1,52mm weight - 9g. colour - brown with dark brown spots at the front of king face and on the other side of coin ( pic. 1,2, 4,9 ) Above King head coin is wee bit damage you can see this pict. no 4. looks like someone try to pull out coin from somewhere maybe that's why coin is wee bit bigger than should be ( 0.028mm) . I compared coin to other one penny coins from different years, sizes and weight are different between + - 0,03 % . Coin is kept securely in plastic capsule and will be sent to lucky winner for free by Next day special deliver by 1pm. securely and well packed. I not a coin collector I am coins hunter and looking for best items for my clients that's why I try to give you the best view on my item. I was looking for this coin for about 3 years and i think this is the best example that I found. If you have any question do not hesitate to ask. Additional pictures on request. Thanks for watching :))))) Quote

It subsequently appeared with hype for sale via a conventional South Wales auction house (Dragon Auctions, or some similar name). After I sent them links to his EBay sale attempts, and to discussion on this forum , they sent me a pleasant email and withdrew the coin from sale. The story is of course total tosh, it is a modern Chinese replica, though he possibly paid too much for it himself if he did indeed buy it in Caerphilly and was taken in by the vendors stated provenance. Unwilling Numismatist Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 (edited) There are an awful lot of fakes originating just across the bridge..... £2 coins, fake kews, dateless 20p's .. way too much modern fakery, - much of it on gumtree and shpock, and then all the associated "older" copies as well. The trouble is it seems to be across about 5 or 6 sellers. Edited March 17, 2019 by Unwilling Numismatist Keyboard insubordination 1 Quote
