Peckris 2 Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 I saw them 3 times and never disappointed. It must be utterly amazing for Guy Pratt to play bass with them - he was still learning when DSOTM came out and he became a fan! Quote
Paddy Posted May 1, 2020 Author Posted May 1, 2020 I found this one, part of a "Best of Sea Life" album, and the title seemed appropriate. Music is good too - light rock: 1 Quote
bagerap Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Thanks Paddy. New to me, but youtube seem to have the whole album, which takes care of my lunchtime. 1 Quote
Paddy Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 Another band newly discovered in amongst a huge collection of CDs I bought late last year - May Blitz. Medium rock with some driving rhythms. This is my favourite track so far: 2 Quote
Peckris 2 Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Fine stuff - if almost the very definition of a Vertigo band! 2 Quote
Diaconis Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Good tune. One of the founders of May Blitz was Terry Poole, ex-Bakerloo, who apparently later joined Vinegar Joe. Strangely though, I can't find mention of him in lists of former VJ members, only Steve York, and Nick South. I presume he didn't stay long. 1 Quote
blakeyboy Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Tonight I opened a Good Red, and I am currently annoying the neighbours with 'Highway Star' off 'Live in Japan'......... ( bloody loud, nice system) I keep forgetting how unbelievable a performance this is, and every now and again, I have to hammer it out to 'reset'...... 1 Quote
Rob Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I never tire of watching this. Amazing skill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC9YY1urT8Q 3 Quote
Diaconis Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Tonight, I sorted my coins according to the monarch's resemblance to Julie Goodyear. One of my favourite Dylan tracks, those lyrics just leave you guessing. Seen him six times but he never performed this song, I don't think he has ever played it live despite trying over 40 versions and never being happy with it. Lou Reed tried to do it but failed IMO. Not recommended to find yourself with an obscured view of the stage. I remember one concert where for an hour and a half all I saw was the neck of Dylan's guitar bobbing back and forth from behind an ornate stanchion, 'not somebody to move around with much' 🙂 1 Quote
